I am fishing in NW Ontario right now

I'm about 90 mins north of International Falls Minnesota, near the town of Atikokan Ont.

I came out here on the last weekend of July and will be here for another week or so. Maybe more if I feel like it. The place is beautiful, an incredible lake house built on the side of a small cliff overlooking one of the most picture-perfect lakes you could ever imagine. Tons of trout in this lake too. Tons. I've had two massive fish fry's already and will have a few more before I leave I'm sure.

Pictures to come (once I get back to my own computer)

Oh, and anyone who might be trying to reach me can still do so via email, cdsmodels at shaw dot ca.

Now, back to the fishin'...

candyflip 08-10-2011 07:54 AM

I just took a massive shit.

Lots of pics on the camera, the scenery up here is in-fucking-credible.

I actually came up here to help my uncle flog some of his stuff on ebay, kijiji etc. He's not very computer literate but he does have an insane amount of collectibles and antiques, including some 1930's winchester rifles, authentic indian artifacts from the 1800's, a wicked polariod camera from the early 70's still in the case with all the accessories, even a few huge box-fuls of concert footage taken at rock concerts and music fests throughout the 60's and 70's. I'm really amazed at some of the stuff he's got here.

Anyway, for those that don't quite get it, I'm also in business here and as such this thread was also to let a few people know that I'm "out of the office" so to speak. (it's what business people do).

I don't know if I brought my FTP logins with me but I'll try, and see if I can get those pics posted.

Sounds fun, the silence kills me in northern ontario lol.

Sounds like a good time, enjoy your vacation.

What kind of trout? Lake trout? Any rainbows in the lake? Im a huge trout guy and think its probably one of the best tasting fish around. Would love to see some pics! This spring I was around 30 mile south of International Falls doing brook trout.

Lake trout mostly, but there's also bass, whitefish, and perch in this lake. No walleye though, which I particularly love.

But the trout here is incredible, both to fish for and eat.

I'm about 90 mins on the highway northwest of International Falls. Was just down there yesterday in fact, saved me a shit-load of money at Menards I did.

Haven't seen any actual indians yet, but I have heard stories about the odd gas thief around here from time to time. There are definitely a few people of questionable character, but then again it's kind of a dying town, one that is suffering a long slow death and a lot of the people still here don't seem to know it.

My uncle's lake home however.... pure paradise.

Got some varmints need killin' do ya? :D

They're actually autoloaders from circa the 1930's, classed as antiques, in a-1 condition and from what I've heard...quite valuable. At this point I'm not sure of what the price will be, either for one or all three, but I DO know that there's going to be some red tape and rigamarole to get through in order to actually transfer ownership of them to someone (presumably an official collector), especially someone across the border.

Open to serious offers though.

Is it ever. It was so great to be able to, for nearly a whole month, to just walk out the door and 100 feet to the dock and throw in a line whenever I felt like it. Very different from where I live, which is right in the heart of the city. If I want to go fishing here (at home) I can either toss a line into the rather poluted Red River (of which the fishing isn't that bad but I wouldn't keep any), OR I can pack up my gear and drive for at least an hour or more to get to a lake where I can catch keepers.

Funny thing is Manitoba has the most lakes of any province, just none are very near where I live.

Btw, my uncle just emailed me this morning. Yesterday he caught a 43 inch Northern, it weighed over 30 lbs. Pics were taken but will have to wait on those.
