Never tanned intentionally in my life. That said, I am outside a fair bit. I'm interested to see what my face looks like after I shave my beard come September. I might have sick tan lines.

One of the times I went to pick up my girlfriend (at the time) from a tanning salon, and saw a guy walk out with this awful dark tan. I couldn't help but to laugh a little walking by. I don't think he'd go out looking for some man on man action afterward, he probably just thought about while jerking off later that night.

The sun also = skin cancer. Which is why us Australians are constantly reminded to use sunscreen and wear shirts and hats when appropriate. While you can only mitigate the sun, it's stupid to lay underneath something, artificial and avoidable, that WILL lead to deadly melanoma.

We owned a tanning salon for several years. We had probably 10-20% male customers. A lot more guys tanned than I thought would when we opened.

I'd say tanning is "metro sexual", which means it's gay unless you're in California. :) Tanning does indeed ruin your skin, quickly making you look old and wrinkly. I have a female friend in her twenties who was really hot a few years ago. After a couple years of tanning, she looks like she's forty. Of course there's a serious risk of skin cancer. Hmm, look good today and have cancer tomorrow? Only if you're gay (aka Californian).

BUT marketsmart has a point, perhaps:

While searching for my one-in-a-million, I went on up to three dates per day. Once I got hot and heavy with three different women within twenty-four hours. When I was seriously dating, going out with a LOT of women, I did the Mystic Tan once or twice. If you are doing a full court press with the ladies I could see a tan as part of that.

Not true. Moderate and proper tanning done professionally will give you a protective layer on your skin as a sun screen.
