Figuring out an insect bite
 

So was out in the woods all day. Pipecrew got his jeep super stuck, total shit show. Anyway, million of Mosquitos using a ton of off. I'm at home right now, and notice the top of my thumb has a bite that has two little circles. My thumb is pretty swollen too, so I'm thinking spider bite. But it doesn't hurt or isn't tender. I'm trying to find something online but they all kinda default to tingling, numbing which it isn't.

Any ideas? Still spider or different bug?

on phone, can't show right now, but looks like a number 8, the bite part more swollen then the rest and my thumb overall just more swollen

To be on the safe side head to a doctor, or a hospital.

Small number 8 sounds more like a snake bite than a spider bite. I'd be getting it checked.

You live in Florida, God only knows what the hell is in the swamps. I've had a few false runs to Urgent Treatment Clinics for bites myself. At least you'll sleep better knowing.

Plus if you don't go and end up dead you'll get ridiculed around here for a month :1orglaugh

Trying to diagnose anything online can be very scary and usually wrong. Here is an image of a brown recluse spider bite. If you Google brown recluse bite you will find some graphic shit. Best to go to the doc if you haven't already just to be safe.

if it's swelling it needs to be looked at.. could just be a bacteria thing, but if it is a spider bite it can get worse and worse for years if you don't get it treated... No harm in checking right?

yeah you guys are all right, i'm going to my dr. in an hour, just made the call. its gotten worse too, more swelling, red, and tender :( i don't want to end up like that other guy, wait for months and lose something. :2 cents:

Friend got bit last week at a soccer game. Turned into a staph infection. He almost lost his leg. Don't piss around with it.

Take a knife and cut your swollen thumb open, and see what comes out. I knew this guy once who got bit like you did, side of his face swelled up the size of a golf ball, he cut it open and about a thousand tiny spiders came pouring out.

Later, he died.



K seriously, just go get your thumb checked out at a walk-in clinic at least. I always say better to be safe than infested. :D

yeah dr said spider bite, but not brown recluse. not sure what it is, but gave me antibiotics and said to watch it carefully. this is what it was this morning

haha still alive, doing antibiotics and having to lance it everyday with lots of neosporin and peroxide, but seems to be getting better. no spider powers either :(
