Anybody still value Alexa Rankings?

It's 2011 (hell almost 12) does anybody still value Alexa Rankings or consider it even halfway reliable? Just a curious question

yabate 08-17-2011 09:13 PM

Just informatively, not for serious, except website is in TOP100K .

hmmm? I dunno... mine is in the top 50k and even on my high traffic days it still spikes low... it doesn't add up...

I never check alexa ranking... Few of my clients are having below 20k ranking.. still are having same traffic who ranked in 100k. Important is traffic and earning.

Any alternatives that give more accurate traffic rankings?

Quantcast, Compete, Awstats, Sitemeter,

Actually none are 100% accurate.. the most accurate one will be Awstats from your host which will give you detailed statistics for just about everything...

I use Alexa as a fun tool...

Its a fun tool to use with awstats and google analytics...
ad companies use it...

i check it for trends and flows...

Alexa is very valuable. The data is not 100 procent correct. But you see what type of websites rise to the top. And which fall. For example tubes increased in the last years.
The features upstream and downstream are also very interesting. You see where they geht their traffic from.

the data there is total shit. it's quite simple rank yourself as you wish.

Yeah but it doesn't update as needed... It doesn't even show the top ten sites I get my traffic from and the "links in" NEVER updates..

ITs about 90 days behind in the numbers but its a good starting point when trying to figure out the traffic of a particular site.

it's behind and quite incorrect.

All I use Alexa.com and Compete.com for is a general "whats-what" on a site. I never take it as solid info. I think it is decent is showing you a general idea of how "good" a site is on traffic though. I wish it did update more often, some of the traffic ratings on some sites are just way off, lol.
