my kids summer break is over - she started 1st grade today.

Sept. 8th is the magic day around these parts for peace and quiet during daytime hours.

Last year she cried going to school the first day.

Today as I was pulling into the school she asked to be let out by the side walk instead of me walking her up ;/

School starts here on Wednesday. My kid goes to some student orientation today for three hours, and then Tuesday there is an orientation where I need to go to.... Then Wednesday. I'm can't wait to get back into a regular routine already...

My son started as well today. 1st grade and he was not happy.

I always wondered why americans send the kids back to school when it is still summer/hot ? wouldn't it make alot more sense ( and save money ) to put them in after summer is over ?

tell him it is either school , or stay at home for the broccoli eating competition that starts every day at 9 am

Schools around here will get 10 to 20 snow days per winter, so they already have school long into spring even though they start in early sept.
