Anyone groom their dogs?

I'm starting to think it's a waste of money now that I have a country house. He just flippen rolls in dirt an hour after he is home.

PR_Glen 08-24-2011 01:26 PM

if they have short fur than there is probably no need, if they have long? definitely or your dog is going to reek...

Emil 08-24-2011 01:41 PM

lol no, fucking gay

LeRoy 08-24-2011 01:45 PM

Yah little dogs need it.

baddog 08-24-2011 01:47 PM

At least once a month. Got to get those anal glands expressed.

OK, Life in the country and the joys of having a dog. :1orglaugh, Taken a few years ago.

Lots of stickers and things in the fur.

A pond or creek close by means always wet/damp.

The worst is when you let a friend fish your ponds and he teaches your dog how to hunt frogs. Then she comes home covered with pond scum or worse dried pond scum.

I do my dogs washing/clipping/nail trim/teeth brushing and ear cleaning. I don't want to waste the money so learned to do it myself.

What do [did] you do about ticks?

Vendzilla 08-24-2011 02:37 PM

Get a pit bull, the dirt and stickers are too scared of it

L-Pink 08-24-2011 02:41 PM

Baddog ......

I give her an oral flea/tick preventer from the vet. The problem is it took 24 - 48 hours to kill the ticks which means they had a whole day to crawl around or jump off when she would come inside.

I would always brush her and visually check her especially in the spring. But yea, she is a tick magnet in the woods.

Now that I live in Florida I haven't seen one on her in years.

V_RocKs 08-24-2011 03:03 PM

Shave it..

baddog 08-24-2011 03:46 PM

Buddy is a tick magnet when we travel to places like IN.

chaze 08-24-2011 09:49 PM

My dig a flea magnet now, frontline doesn't stand a chance against these farm fleas. I guess next I have to try advantage. But I mean stickers, dirt, and lots of random crap all over him everyday. I guess I just need to rinse him off or flea bath him once a week.

Advantage is great!! Buddy never has fleas. When we travel to places that will have ticks I now use Advantix, but for SoCal, Advantage rocks.

marlboroack 08-25-2011 02:44 AM

My dog has dreads just like his master :rasta

HerPimp 08-25-2011 04:58 AM

Just keep the dog groomed to ensure the pettings keep coming.

CyberHustler 08-25-2011 05:12 AM

I have a pit. No need to see a groomer. I trim his nails myself. He eats right, so no need to express his anal gland. Short fur and he jumps in the shower with me whenever he wants a bath (like once every week). When he does that I lather him up with the doggy shampoo, rinse it off of him and throw his towel on the floor so he can dry himself by rubbing all over it. It's so cute...

Rochard 08-25-2011 07:04 AM

I run with my dog every morning, and she usually ends up in the pond and the stream we run by. Why groom her when she comes home nasty every day?

John-ACWM 08-25-2011 08:12 AM

No grooming for mine, the hair is not that long.

That helps too. Buddy has a job to do and if he is not clean and smelling/feeling good to the touch, he fails.

Advantage is a lot better then FrontLine.

He is indoor dog until recently and now no one pets or cuddles with him because he is filthy. But even if I groom him he just gets dirty right away.

I think I will shave him down really close.

No... I just fuck mine...

They are just dogs.. No need to 'Groom' them on the internet...

JamesGw 08-25-2011 01:41 PM

I have an Akita. Sometimes brush his hair out when he's shedding real bad. Usually just let him chill though.
