Mike Pullman Domain Appraisal Scam

Hello,

Just to let those who have domains listed at Sedo that there's a valuation scam going around.

It works like this:

1. Guy from Brand Domain Name Services LLC (not a company) will email you asking how much you want for xxx.xxx domain.
2. Some negotiation will take place.
3. He'll then say we don't buy without a valuation.
4. You pay $60 for a valuation.
5 Guy disappears.

The initial email looks like this:

Quote:

Hello,

We are going to purchase your domain name.

Our company is in hosting and domain name business.

Please email us your desired price in USD or euros for the domain name in the subject line.

If you have other names for sale please email us your domains with prices.

Looking forward to doing business with you.

Regards,

Mike Pullman

President

Brand Domain Name Services LLC

They're scanning sedo and then doing WHOIS searches on the names.

I spotted it straight away when I was offered 4 figures for a 3 figure name.

Lol, this scam has been going on for a decade, usually they just do a mass pull of whois info and then mail out the same inquiry. I'm shocked this is the first time you've encountered it.

usually when someones english is bad, its a sign of a scam :2 cents:

iamtam 08-25-2011 08:49 AM

it is your typical scam. if he wants to buy the domain, he should pay for the valuation. it is for his protection, not yours. if you are stupid enough to fall for it, well, you deserve it.

DaddyHalbucks 08-25-2011 08:50 AM

Yes, the domain "appraisal" scam has been around for years..

wehateporn 08-25-2011 08:59 AM

Which payment method did you use?

FreeHugeMovies 08-25-2011 09:52 AM

Why in fuck would you (the seller) pay for an evaluation? Make them pay for it. How stupid.

bns666 08-25-2011 10:09 AM

Wilsy 08-25-2011 10:12 AM
