Hehe... well, easily upgradable if I needed it. I don't really do much design, video editing, gaming, etc. So this is really even more than I actually need.

We love our Macs here, personally I am much more productive on a Mac.

For those Windows people, does Windows have a built in ssh client yet ? Or do you still need Putty ? How about built in ftp ? got that in Windows yet ? Bash scripting ? No ? Perhaps you have popular languages like perl, php built in ? Not even a built in C Compiler ? No, What the fuck ? You have to PAY for development tools ? What do you say ? You don't ? How about a real pre-emptive multitasking multiprocessor micro kernel ? No ? Fuck me, who's behind now ?

If that's what you want why not just buy OSX and stick it on a custom built computer for hackintosh that's much cheaper or use linux?

I just love to see a nice Apple-office :)

I have a new Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM and I7-cpu, but will buy an iMac next year, I guess.

But, one thing you all are missing, something VERY sweet:

Good thing you can run Windows on a mac then.. In fact I have been told by friends that Windows7 runs better on a mac then a PC. Go figure.

Come on kiddo, you're smarter than that.

Why is it that getting a Mac instantly drops a person's IQ by 20 points?

Oh please, everything you mentioned Windows users can get for free if they need it. Oh, and Windows has supported preemption since NT. :1orglaugh

I thought you were smarter than to post a silly message like this - I was wrong!

I can now run Mac OS and Windows on the same system. Plus Macs hold their resell value better then PC's do. :thumbsup

Better THAN, Einstein.

You talk like running OS X is a good thing. It's not.

When was the last time you sold a computer?

I started using a iMac about 3 weeks ago. I find is MUCH better then a PC which now I look at it was crap. Not so much Windows, but the monitor, the tower just hummed like a lawn mower and the fact that PC hardware needs updating all the time. Every week a new RAM chip or CPU or motherboard comes out. Keeping up with the hardware is a right pain in the ass. While mac updates their system it's not every week, its more like once a year and looking back at a 2009 imac, it's still useable today to do the work I do.

I sold my PC laptop 2 days ago.

You just don't like Mac and that's fine, but for me it's required considering I make Ipad, iphone and Android apps. I need the power to design for both systems.

yeah I use 2, 30 apple cinemas on my PC. i7 975 3.33 GB ram... never have any problems, except with adobe products, did just lose a video card... annoying but not the end of the world. personally mac is just a PC to me... nothing special. like a harley is just a motorcycle

if it uses gas, bleeds once a month or pushes 1's and 0's around you're going to have problems :2 cents:

John-ACWM 08-27-2011 09:44 AM

They use the same hardware, in reality you're buying dated hardware, it's not that the PC is problematic and releasing new hardware all the time.

In 2011 there is no hardware advantage to using a Mac.

Sly 08-27-2011 10:16 AM

I don't know why Mac users don't just say "I use Mac because I like it better." It's true, it's simple, and it's no BS. The justifications users come up with typically make little sense.

Paying a much higher price in order to get "free software" and "hardware that doesn't update" is a pretty weak justification. You like it. It's that simple.

I'll admit, they are sexy as fuck and I have thought about getting one myself as well. Just can't do the price, simply doesn't make sense.

The hardware logic blows my mind. Somehow Mac users equate being able to upgrade hardware with being required to upgrade hardware. The PC I am on right now is over 4 years old. It's an Intel Core2 Duo with 4GB of ram. I haven't upgraded shit in it since I built it. It's not a slouch but it's not top of the line either. For what I need to do for my job it's fine. If I want to play games, I have a top of the line machine at home.

I guess if it's physically impossible to upgrade then feeling like you're current is much easier. :1orglaugh
