How is the business these days? Thinking about buying small pub in the city.

I bought a club this year. Tough business. Uk though.

My Club is going very good. But its a very Big one, so hard to compare with a pub. It's a full time job though. I have someone running it for me. So unless you want to quit the industry, you should find someone.

I am currently looking for somebody to run mine, so I don't have to... HARD work.

Every club I've run and every other club GM I know does it as a full time job, and is on call 7 days a week. And it's just not fielding calls from the owner(s). It's every employee, other manager, vendor, marketing person, EVERYONE that decides to call you instead of the MOD or the person that should field the question before it gets to you.

If you're going to be an owner operator, you better love dealing with a lot of stupid shit, stupid employees that will steal from you, and customers wanting everything for free.

It's a fun business though.

you gotta get a perfect location. that is so important.

Every club owner I've known is an ex-club owner and have pretty much all dropped that line about the best two days of owning a club are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

Not necessarily. The best clubs in DC were all in SE DC ... the worst section. People still drove out to them though. It's all about atmosphere and having great promoters. That's the mega club business though. I don't know about small ones.
