Do tube sites get you sales?

That is a good question, that many have asked before...
One thing is for sure though, uploading your content to tube sites won't get you sales, if the tube sites video page only has a small hidden banner or link to your website, and a ton of high ctr banners that are promoting everything but your site. So why should you upload to tube sites, and let them use your content to promote other products?

This is what we wanted to do differently on Faceporn.

Faceporn Site Profiles
When you create a profile for your paysite on Faceporn, you get the amount of promotion your content deserves when uploaded to third parties. Your site and your content will be the main focus on any page where it is displayed. With highly visible banners and sales text, that links to your website.

  • Salestext with your videos
  • Banners on your Site Profile
  • Fans of your site can follow and interact
  • Reach out to a new social audience
  • Broaden your brand
  • Gain traffic
  • Increase sales

So not only would you display the video with a watermark to the site that we own, you are saying you would allow us to place banners ON the page also?

Roald 09-01-2011 02:12 PM

Is that a custom script you are using?

Yeah, it's custom coded, and still a work in progress. If you run into any issues, please let me know. Still trying to smooth and tweak things.

How do you mean?

Barry-xlovecam 09-01-2011 02:42 PM

The blue meanies at Facebook would have no case — "face" and "porn" alone are generic terms ...

Asking questions about your own product? classic.

This is true. They are one of the biggest trademark bullies out there these days. The case against us is ongoing. I think we'll prevail in the end though.

Homegrown Video advice on branding

Everything looks great and your spin on it really does answer some of the chief complaints about tubes... but that is a bummer about Facebook and unfortunately makes us wary since we are gun shy about law suits, and rightfully so.

I always harp on this issue and wonder why anyone would risk such a lawsuit. We were once sued for a video called "whoreos" and I guarantee no one was going to pick up a copy of that - with two big black guys and a blond chick in the middle - and mistake it for a box of cookies I assure you.

Still it cost us just to say "sorry" and pull it; fighting it to the end to prove it was parody, protected free speech, blah, blah, would have run in the gazillions and would never have been worth it...

Seeing as how we only sold TWO copies from our warehouse.

But looking at your site and I can see why Facebook would have a problem with it right off the bat. I sincerely wish you luck and hope that you are not fighting to try and win what could easily be a pyrrhic victory.

I understand your concern and appreciate your input and advice. But what I don't quite get is how uploading to the site could effect you in any way. It's kind of a far stretch to think facebook would go after any of the uploaders on the site isn't it? Or am I missing something?

nice site., looks gr8.

cooldude7 09-02-2011 04:38 AM

when i search for mom , why it shows user search ?

nextri 09-02-2011 05:03 AM

good question. Obviously a bug. Fixed now.
It's suppose to work like if you search for something, and it finds 0 results, then it searches for a member with the exact name.
Didn't quite work like that..

pornguy 09-02-2011 05:21 AM

Looks like you are missing a great converting niche or so.

nextri 09-02-2011 05:24 AM

Indeed. will have to do something about that.. Means there is an opportunity for a milf sponsor to create a profile and upload their videos. I bet there are tons of searches for milf related stuff.

Nicky 09-02-2011 05:34 AM

I created a profile for EuroRevenue. Will be in touch. :thumbsup

stever 09-02-2011 07:05 AM

how many unique visitors does this site have per day?

nextri 09-02-2011 07:18 AM

At the moment only around 50k per day. Haven't really focused on traffic until this week. Were still optimizing and fixing bugs.

Wizzo 09-02-2011 08:02 AM

Hey Nexrti, I sent you a icq are you going to be in Amsterdam?

spazlabz 09-02-2011 08:14 AM

I don't know if they would or not but using what the RIAA did as an example it is possible even if it is a very remote possibility and even if you and I both agree that it would be ludicrous for it to happen at all. That is the problem with companies that have as deep pockets and as many attorneys as FB has.

So the saying goes but that doesn't make it true. I don't think the average consumer has a clue about this particular law suit so how could they be getting any attention from it?

We did the Acacia law suit and it made mainstream media and was a big webmaster issue and we had tons of well-wishing people saying "do business with the companies fighting Acacia to help!" Did it make one single bit of difference in terms of bringing in more affiliates?

None whatsoever.

How many times have you been sued?

There is a difference between mainstream media bringing in affiliates, and mainstream media bringing in surfers. It was quite noticeable on the traffic graphs when media wrote about our case.

Sorry, I wasn't making myself clear I see... I was saying the same thing. Mainstream acacia press didn't bring surfers, nor did the adult press on it bring in webmasters.

I am very familiar with mainstream press and getting surfers. We have been on 60 Minutes, 20/20, Larry King Live, HBO, Showtime, tons of magazines from GQ to Marie Claire and Cosmo, tons. A few month back we were in New York and San Diego magazines and on local news in San Diego as well so getting mainstream pr is something I know a thing or two about. I love mainstream press and I know how it can spike SURFER traffic. (but on a side note it can also help affiliates convert better too)

But in all honesty... is it bringing in enough to pay for such a law suit?
