I did just use a laptop - A sony Viao for about 3 years.... Then I bought an iMac...

Dont use lappy no more :)

Wizzo 09-05-2011 02:44 PM

I just use a laptop, but when at home I have it connected to regular monitor, keyboard, etc... just makes it easier when I travel to have my main machine with me. :pimp

Lace 09-05-2011 02:47 PM

As main? No. I could never work on a laptop constantly. Cant stand the mice and miss my dual monitors for multi-tasking. Most of the time, I use my laptop on the couch while watching tv or spending time with the wife or in bed to watch hulu. lol.

I love logmein too!

i havent had a desktop for 5 or 6 years now - at home or the office i use my laptop with an additional monitor, keyboard and mouse.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 09-05-2011 02:52 PM

I use a laptop on the road, but I prefer my good ol' dependable desktop:

I'm saving up to upgrade in a few years. :pimp

I use a laptop at home and away. Away, it's just the laptop, and at home I do the same as mentioned above. I plug in my monitor and use a wireless mouse and keyboard. I can't see a reason to ever use a desktop again.

Rochard 09-05-2011 03:15 PM

I use a desk top PC for most of my work. It's an Quad Core HP. I also have an HP touchscreen that I use mostly for email. I'm not into HP, that's just who had the best deals at Best Buy the last two times I went shopping.

For after hours and traveling, I have a Dell Duo Flip Screen Netbook. It's like Netbook that flips into a (rather large) Tablet. Perfect for surfing on the couch.

We also have two large laptops, and another netbook.

Jakez 09-05-2011 03:23 PM

Haven't owned a PC in at least 5-6 years. I just use a laptop on my desk with a usb mouse (better than wireless for gaming).

You do realize pc means personal computer and not necessarily a desktop right?

I have not used a desktop in 4 or 5 years (at least). When at home I use an external mouse, external speakers, and dual monitors.

Why can't you use dual monitors on yours?

Adraco 09-05-2011 03:48 PM

I have had a laptop as my main and only computer for at least the last ten years or so. At home it has its own docking station, connected to a large monitor and bluetooth keyboard and mouse for instant wireless control. I will most probably never buy a desktop computer for my own personal use ever again.

My Pimp 09-05-2011 03:48 PM

Laptops are not fast enough. And their screen is too small.

DigitalTheory 09-05-2011 04:13 PM

Just 2 laptops here.

looky_lou 09-05-2011 04:21 PM

Same laptop only with wireless mouse for last 6 years. I do have to have my mouse though, can't stand a touchpad.

My 2011 Quad Core i7 MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM disagrees with you .. :Oh crap

scuba steve 09-05-2011 04:42 PM

have the fancy desktop at the office, then the mbp at home. i guess best of both worlds

fuzebox 09-05-2011 05:08 PM

I'm laptop-only... Have a 15.6" for home and a netbook for travel. I use an external mouse on the home one, no need for extra displays or external keyboards.

Argos88 09-05-2011 05:17 PM

impossible to process video and do that many tasks on a notebook.. also quite annoying. unless you are a sponsor manager or only have to use email and messenger.. but if you work hard with photoshop etc, I go with a powerful desktop machine all the time..

notebooks are for rich sponsor owners who travel all around the world... they only need to check things.. and not WORK HARD building sites.

Socks 09-05-2011 05:25 PM

I haven't found a laptop that can fit 8 HDD's yet.

I find my laptop is most helpful in the kitchen, or when travelling. I can set it up here as a third display or dock it, but I just don't

leg4 09-05-2011 05:32 PM

I used to......... then I got on someone's fast Desktop for a while and was like... "Fuck a laptop!"

Even though I had the fastest Laptop possible... A Full Size desktop was just faster and better as my main working tool.

IllTestYourGirls 09-05-2011 05:36 PM

95% of my work is done on a laptop. Easier to take from home to office. I have desktops but more for accounting and to make sure my sites look right on a desktop lol.

They do have these things called external drives. I have a ton of them plugged in to my dock. I even bring one, sometimes two, with me.

CPA37710T 09-05-2011 06:12 PM

i use an Acer Aspire 8735 wich is a desktop replacement.. it is pretty cool once you get used to its size. Since then i dont feel comfortable using a desktop anymore lol... everything is done from the couch

CYF 09-05-2011 09:11 PM

I've used a Macbook as my main box for a couple of years now. Got an Asus netbook for the road.

Planning on getting a desktop with 3 monitors int he next couple of weeks whenever I get around to it :)

anexsia 09-05-2011 09:17 PM

Still running on the same desktop computer I built 4 years ago (although did replace video card).

Intel Xeon X3210 2.13GHz Quad @ 3.6GHz
AMD Radeon 4870 512MB Videocard
8GB Corsair DDR2800 Memory
x2 1TB Western Digital Harddrives

It's still ticking away and sure as hell lasted me longer than any Mac will and at half the price.

Chosen 09-05-2011 10:19 PM

I use laptop as main computer while I travel.

scouser 09-05-2011 10:31 PM

used a macbook air as my main computer since november, hook it up to my normal monitor. only if i need to use windows or lots of photoshop etc i'll use my desktop. for web work mba's are just as fast as a higher spec desktop.

campimp 09-05-2011 10:46 PM

i work solely on a macbook, but i have a PC with a 21 inch monitor i use to double check how my pages look on a bigger screen

Icy 09-05-2011 11:57 PM

I moved to a new office 6 month ago and decided to buy a new high end macbook pro. It is powerful enough and hooked to an external 27" monitor is perfect for work, plus you have the portability to travel or to do some work from home if needed without having to sync to desktops at home/office as i did in the past. I even got rid of my home desktop and now i only use the macbook everywhere.

As i said, at the office i use an external monitor, mouse and keyboard, as i don't find the noteboook ones comfortable enough for long working sessions.

drmadcat 09-06-2011 12:04 AM

i use both mainly desk top i use my laptop when im out i really need a tablet know

calvinawe 09-06-2011 01:29 AM

SZNY 09-06-2011 01:33 AM

I have both but prefer to work on my laptop

Theo 09-06-2011 01:35 AM

Laptop over the last ten years

Antonio 09-06-2011 01:52 AM

Never had a laptop and not planning on having one soon.... If you don't travel, I really don't see the point of having a laptop.

SomeCreep 09-06-2011 01:55 AM

Laptop, but now that i have an ipad, i find myself doing a lot less computing and much more ipadding.

Laptop, plugged into another monitor with spanning so I have dual screens, full size keyboard and trackpad plugged in.

femdomdestiny 09-06-2011 02:12 AM

desktop

Only desktop, with laptop, I don't feel serious whatever that I do.It reminds me on people at restaurants staring into laptops, probably without good reason. Whenever I try to do something on laptop,I quit fast. Recently sold one and another I am almost not using.

Markul 09-06-2011 02:12 AM

Laptop for work.

Desktop for gaming.

Shey 09-06-2011 02:50 AM

I can't even remember the last time I had a desktop. I just set up my desk with extra monitors, speakers, wireless mouse/keyboard on a hub so I can just plug my laptop in and out as needed with no fuzz.

I can use an external monitor along side of it if I wanted but that wouldn't be too comfortable while on the couch. Also have an issue with a different sized screens next to each other. I like the almost seamless look. Tried it for a bit on my old laptop and a old lcd and hated it. I've got matching 19's on my desktop and love them. I'd like to get bigger though, maybe dual 24's.

Zarathustra 09-06-2011 03:20 AM

laptop is useless and waste of time as a main computer unless it weighs less than 4lbs, res of 1920x1200 (1080p is acceptable i guess), matte screen, have at least 8 hour battery life, 4 ram slots, and an acceptable video card (equivalent to 460gtx minimum)

BIGTYMER 09-06-2011 03:28 AM

I use them all. Desktop, laptop, iPad, iPhone. Most of the work is done on the desktop.

V_RocKs 09-06-2011 04:10 AM

I used to use only a laptop back in 1999 - 2004. Then I bought a computer and now when I use a laptop I am actually remotely connected to my main computer so I have all of my shit handy.

V_RocKs 09-06-2011 04:11 AM

50 laptop using mofos
