Are you currently reading any good books?

I am looking for something else to start (hopefully it is available via the iBooks app...)

Last night I finished The Long Walk by Stephen King and really enjoyed it. Definitely going to download some more of his stuff since it's all still completely new to me (what a reading newb, I know).

I also have the Four Hour Body that I'm going to throw in there as well.

Just curious to find out what you guys are getting into?

People who become millionaires read about one to two non-fiction books per month. Non-millionaires average something like one every three years. I don't know what I'll read next, but I can guarantee it'll be non-fiction!

Speaking of millionaires, "The Automatic Millionaire" is a good read which describes exactly how most millionaires achieve that status. 90% of them follow the same basic plan.

PR_Glen 09-08-2011 06:43 AM

wow you guys love your sci-fi huh? If you're a stephen king fan and enjoy long stories with great character development check out Les Miserable.. I started reading it again recently but it is just fantastically done and an amazing story.

Four hour body was interesting and has some good ideas but he really sensationalizes things quite a bit which leads to exaggeration on results so take it in with a grain of salt.

Sophie Delancey 09-08-2011 07:02 AM

I'm re-reading Dharma Bums by Kerouac. Always a good one.

Tim Ferriss was born to sensationalize.

I like his material for ideas and starting points, not sure how much is totally practical though.

yeah I agree. It is easy to get caught up in some of his ideas, but not all of them are iron clad.

I like Malcolm Gladwell books as well. He has a good grasp of history and some great concepts as well.

I've read the tipping point and outliers so far--both great.

I'm reading Venture Deals: Be Smarter Than Your Lawyer and Venture Capitalist. It's not the most exciting book in the world, but it's really good if you're interested in startup and want to learn the nuances of VC deals.

Sorry for the pseudo-spam, as I also just posted this in a thread about investing, but I'm doing the marketing for a book titled Laughing At Wall Street. It was written by a friend of mine who averaged an annual rate of return of 775% from 2006-2010. In 2010, his portfolio was ranked #1 among all those with a value of $250K+ on Covestor. Here's a link to the website for the book. It literally just launched yesterday and more features will be added in the coming weeks

http://laughingatwallstreet.com/

If any of you have a mainstream site (or sites) which you feel would be an appropriate venue to do a review of the book, send me an email ([email protected]) with the site info. If suitable, I'll have an advance copy of the book sent to you on 10/15, which is more than 3 weeks before it's scheduled to be released to the public. I've read it and it really is a good book.

Here are some of my favorite other books:thumbsup
