One of the worst pieces of advice one can follow in business.

(or at least wrongly followed based upon people's definition of "broken")

thickcash_amo 09-09-2011 02:49 PM

lol if only we could go back to those times

My Pimp 09-09-2011 05:26 PM

The Wayback Machine is awesome.

raymor 09-09-2011 06:42 PM

If it works, carefully test one small change at a time to see what makes it work even better.

slavdogg 09-09-2011 06:47 PM

please tell me you're not implying that Google didn't change 99.99% of what it was at first :(

leg4 09-09-2011 11:39 PM

Nothing has changed about the HUN? How about the signups they used to send... LOL

2000 = 16 signups from one gallery

2011 = 1 signup from 8 galleries

Lols

The Hun example always makes me chuckle, every time the "change/no change" discussion arises someone mentions The Hun as a good example of why NOT to change. The part they're missing is The Hun lost around 70/75% of its traffic, but hey, who cares about that? Everybody here likes to lose 1,000,000+ unique visitors per day! :(

Guess that most successful companies invest in developing new ideas and improving their sites and UI/UX because they're dumb and they don't know how to spend their money :(

NetHorse 09-10-2011 12:16 AM

Want to really see something? This is what craigslist used to look like.

watched a french documentary on internet start ups not too long ago.
was Funny to see those site's homepage from 11 years ago. (most of the people featured in it sold their biz and made millions)

It has changed...but it's not a giant explosion all over the web page like Yahoo. You have to look under the hood to get everything. Aesthetically, the page looks almost like it did back in the day.
