Big trend in ICQ spams lately.... Do you get random messages like this? [screencap inside]
 

I get between 3-5 messages a day from Chinese people simply looking to learn English. Many of them are students and they have a decent grasp on the language but want to practice with actual Americans.

For instance, I signed on today and had five new add-requests and it goes on alllllll day long.

At first I thought it was a random bot or some kind of spamming operation, but I finally gave in and had a discussion with one of them... check it out below. Do you guys get messages like this???

After that, I told him I needed to go and ended the conversation. I actually felt bad for the guy but his English is almost better than mine lol.

Guess I need to configure my settings to stop this kind of stuff but surely I can't be the only one getting these?

I am getting this too all the time, not only icq but skype too a lot these days by all kinds of russians, chinese and god knows what

Normally only happens when I am visible though

Well hes right... it happens A LOT!!! either theres really an institution there pointing their want to be english speakers to ICQ as a way to tackle this need or there is some scam that they are not letting on to.

I noticed there was a thread here recently from someone looking for an ICQ spam programmer. I think I may have been the inly ine who told him to fuck off. Another GFY member expressed interest in wiring on tge dude's spam software. More ICQ spam and we're letting the deals happen right here on GFY.
