What are your thoughts about the PPV model?

I'd like to get other's opinions on this topic becuase for the longest time I've promoted Adult DVD Download websites because they seem to offer much more value for the money in terms of the consumer.

However, I see tons of PPV type of sites out there where you have to purchase minutes to watch part of a porn movie or the whole movie and it could cost the consumer let's say $20 to view just one Adult DVD. Why in the world would a consumer pay that kind of money when they could pay $30 a month to download a choice of thousands of Adult DVDs that are of great quality?

With today's consumer being more thrifty and price conscious than ever before, I just don't understand how the PPV sites are selling barely anything these days? I've yet to even remotly want to promote PPV sites because I'd think they would sell must worse than the Adult DVD Download sites.

I just laugh at the prices the PPV sites are charing for their download minutes and wonder who would think that is a better deal than an DVD download website.

Maybe I'm missing the boat here so that's why I wanted to get what you guys/gals think about this.

Thanks...

easy one. all of those download sites you speak of have old videos.
in ppv like aebn or movie dollars they have the latest videos coming out which is what many people are looking for, not 5 year old porn.

on edit- i should add that there are windows of distribution for video, so brand new videos always hit ppv way before those video download sites.

hmmm, so I wonder if I should have thought of that before. Just like mainstream movies, the new releases rent 99% of the time versus the ones that have been out for years.

I guess I was always so focused on the value of getting so much for so little. There still has to be a large market out there for the download sites because those movies are still very good.

On the PPV sites they have a bunch of old shit too but if they have the new stuff then I can see your point of how people want to see the new releases. Maybe they also like the fact of not paying monthly and only for what they want to see. It still seems expensive for what the PPV sites are charging for their minutes.

In today's economy I just don't see how the PPV sites are converting well at all. If someone has a screenshot of stats or something to prove me wrong I welcome you...

PPV sales have dropped, but almost everything else has as well so I don't think it's an indicator that it's less viable.
My PPV sales have dropped. i was doing 130 - 140 sales a month and now maybe 90, and keep in mind your average net is 5 bucks or so, so it's seen better days.

The weird thing about PPV is that I have some recurring customers for more than 2 years now that spend 100 bucks a month on new titles, so there is a validity to the brand new stuff. They don't have to buy again, but some of them just keep on buying damn it;)

I see so even if your sales are higher like 90 a month, you only get a small portion of the minutes packages sales so that's definitely not as much as I thought it would be.

I've seen that it is very difficult these days to make sales like you used to be able to and the online consumer mentality today is so much different than a couple years ago they seem to be spending less and less on adult and spending more time on the tube type sites.
