what single person/actor/comedian has made you laugh most in your lifetime?

there are lots of funny people in this world but when i asked myself this question I realized that the answer is Homer Simpson, taking into consideration he's been doing it for what - 25-30 years? he never gets old, somebody embedded an 8 second youtube video of Homer, i clicked play - laughed out loud.

ManPuppy 09-16-2011 07:41 AM

It's changed over time for me. Steve Martin was the shit in the late 70's, early 80's; now he's become an albino lump of putty.

Edina and Patsy did it for me in the 90's (one wasn't funny without the other, just tragic). They were the three stooges as two, with the added hilarity of vodka, cocaine, and indiscriminate sex. But, in the newer series version, they just turned into boardwalk caricatures of themselves.

These days, I can't do without Archer.

Babaganoosh 09-16-2011 07:47 AM

I'd probably have to say Seth MacFarlane because of Family Guy. That's one of the few shows on TV that makes me laugh every single time I watch it.

sweetcuties 09-16-2011 07:56 AM

Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, John Heffron

PR_Glen 09-16-2011 08:12 AM

for stand up I have many favourites but the top few for me are: Dave Attell, Patton Oswald, George Carlin, Louis CK and Stephen Wright.

Cartman and southpark in general has been pushing the lines of comedy for years. Not all their stuff is gold but they sure do have their moments.

Family Guy is up there but it is a little overrated. Macfarlane is one talented dude though.

miguelf 09-16-2011 08:13 AM

Robin Williams

bronco67 09-16-2011 08:14 AM

I can't even look at Zach Galifiankis without laughing, but Jack Black is probably the one that's made me me laugh more than anyone.

For me It's probably Jim Carrey. Since I have seen all his comedy movies from mid 90's till now so many times.

rogueteens 09-16-2011 08:27 AM

Lee Evans is my favourate. I cannot stand american stand-ups, I think stand up comedy is one area where the atlantic gap is at it's widest.

Grapesoda 09-16-2011 08:28 AM

consistently, probably be Rodney Dangerfield

suesheboy 09-16-2011 08:34 AM

Howard Stern, his crew and guests.

Most fuckable is Sarah Silverman.

dynastoned 09-16-2011 08:36 AM

This guy has me crying with laughter.

This is comedy gold.

There are tons more and he never had to use the F Word or anything else sexist. Except the first one.

that's the other one for me but i chose Homer because Howard is an ensemble of people - not just one person/character.

i was just listening to some Richard and Sal phoney phonecalls the other day and crying with laughter. Richard especially.

seeandsee 09-16-2011 10:20 AM

Rowan Atkinson and then American actors, and maybe few more others

yes Homer writes his own material :helpme

on Howard Stern there are lots of people who are funny, it's not just Howard. Homer all by himself is responsible for thousands of funny bits and quotes. multiplied by 25 years of Simpson's episodes I can't think of any one person/character responsible for making me laugh out loud more times. I'm not even a huge Simpsons fan.

sure there are great comedians and actors who've had a lot of memorable hilarious lines and moments but nowhere near as many as Homer. i'm talking quantity not just quality.

and it is easier to put funny lines into a cartoon character's mouth than a real person's.

Diomed 09-16-2011 01:34 PM

I'm a huge fan of the Gervais, Merchant, Pilkington trio.

PiffStenis 09-16-2011 01:37 PM

Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy, Three Stooges, Larry David

robwod 09-16-2011 01:46 PM

Mitch Hedberg is/was just hilarious. He died way too young.

PR_Chi 09-16-2011 01:53 PM

chappelle and eddie murphy - his dvd's RAW and Delirious was prob the funniest stuff ive seen

harvey 09-16-2011 01:54 PM

Homer is da shitnizz, as well as Eric Cartman, but going to real people, I would say Steve Martin, Ricky Gervais, Nick Frost, Jack Black and in a second line Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, Jim Carrey, Simon Pegg and John Cleese.

Also I like Gerard Depardieu a lot when he does comedy and I think Jean Reno is the best sidekick for any comedian star :thumbsup

and I also like the guy that plays Phil Dunphy in "Modern Family" and of course Sheldon from Big Bang Theory :thumbsup

Spunky 09-16-2011 01:57 PM

Robin Williams when he was high on blow ,the shit that he came up with was hilarious

mynameisjim 09-16-2011 02:00 PM

Honestly, if you add up all the times your friends and family have made you laugh out loud, it far outweighs any comedian or actor.

But beyond that, I would have to pick The Simpsons. I don't watch it as much anymore, but those characters have been around for like 20 years. No other show has put out that level of content for such a long period of time.

I'm not knocking the fact Homer is funny, I just thought it was odd you specifically said which single person then chose a cartoon character written by many different people.

Likewise Bill Hicks. You never know if that was 'better' from the point of view of their comedy though. Ie, it didn't get a chance to grow stale or outstay its welcome.

In addition to Curb, if you factor in his writing for Seinfeld, it's gotta be LD.

Anyone that dislikes Paul Rudd probably doesn't like themselves and should see a psychiatrist to find out why they're such a miserable prick.

Sam Kinison. Died way too early for me.

Same with John Candy. Love the fat man, still watch all his movies.

Louis CK has his moments, and when he does damn that guy cracks me up.

I have to mention Don Rickles as well. Been cutting people up for 50+ years now.

webair 09-16-2011 03:11 PM

Dane cook is hilarious
