Anyone at the Airshow In Reno Today?
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...78F6U420110917 Federal investigators on Saturday tried to determine what caused a vintage World War II fighter plane dubbed the "The Galloping Ghost" to crash at a Nevada air race, killing nine people and raising questions about the safety of such events. The investigation began on the same day that a World War II-era plane crashed in a fireball at a Martinsburg, West Virginia air show, killing the pilot. In Nevada, more than 50 people were injured in the crash on Friday afternoon. |
no but saw it on tv, fucking hardcore crash :Oh crap

It was yesterday. Wonder if the pilot had a heart attack, he was getting older. Apparently he pulled a move that saved a bunch of lives at the end maybe he had blacked out.

fuck why does that idiot get in front of the camera

Some reports say that the trim tab appears to have separated from one of the elevator halves.
If this is true, then I'm surprised that he was able to maintain any control what so ever. Any movement of the elevator would have caused an uncontrollable rolling of the aircraft. It now makes sense to me why he was in a right turn (the race course is all left turns) and then rolled inverted, and then hit the ground. If the trim tab separated from the left half of the elevator, any upward movement of the elevator would have cause a right rolling force on the aircraft. |
