The Ghost 09-20-2011 04:19 PM

Remember all that like it was yesterday. The CD section towards the bottom is particularly great :)

That is cool. Time flies.

I'm not a reddit reader/user, GFY is a freaky enough community for me.

I don't spend all day scouring the internet for random things, so yes, I saw it somewhere, but no it wasn't reddit. My apologies to you for sharing it here after seeing it. Next time I'll only post it if I find it in my basement and scan it in myself. :)

shit that's not back in time... when I first got hooked on the internet, there was no such thing as a web and if you had a USR 56k modem you were screamingly fast lol

LOL, sarcasm on my part sometimes comes off the wrong way in text, I was kidding around. Tried to indicate it with the :) but it doesn't always work :thumbsup

One of our programmers is a reddit addict (goes to meetups & such) and I give him quite a hard time about it, so it may have just been reflexive on my part :)

Sly 09-20-2011 04:28 PM

4 MB upgrade, LOL. Love it.

GAMEFINEST 09-20-2011 04:28 PM

Fucking pagers!

d-null 09-20-2011 04:35 PM

a sobering thought is that in 15 short years we are going to look at a Best Buy flyer from today and think today's products look so primitive :2 cents:

Rochard 09-20-2011 04:38 PM

Ah, the good old days. When you could build a computer for $200 and sell it for $1k.

Miz_Wright 09-20-2011 04:47 PM

The Macarena!

I have a friend that made some nice money doing that. He would order parts from the Computer Shopper magazine then build a computer and sell it for three times his cost. He made it into a nice little side business.

bronco67 09-20-2011 04:56 PM

I remember that game Hexen...it sucked donkey balls.

crockett 09-20-2011 05:00 PM

Heh don't see too many of those "no payments for a year offers these days".

Guess that's a history lesson into the reasons the economy is like it is today. Every other store was doing the same back then too.

FlexxAeon 09-20-2011 05:09 PM

those laptops look like BRICKS haha

"easier viewing with Large 11.3" display!"

:1orglaugh

Elli 09-20-2011 05:12 PM

Chris 09-20-2011 05:26 PM

Mutt 09-20-2011 05:39 PM

3GB hard drive for 400 dollars.

amazing that the price of a desktop computer never goes down - a good PC was 1999 back then and it's the same price today for one. and the Apple PowerPC was 2399 in 96 and today an iMac is the same price.

yeah, oddly prices are around the same you just get a whole lot more bang for your buck now.

Back in 1989-90 I worked at Radio Shack and we sold a 20MB hard drive that was actually a hard card for $600.

Not sure where you shop, but you can put together a high-end PC for $1,000 nowadays.

bigpappa17934 09-20-2011 06:28 PM

Gotta say that my favorite part of the Ad is the Sony Tape Deck!!! And did anyone happen to notice the cost of the "make you own home page" software?!!! WOW!! lol. Those were the days! Oh look!!! You can get a Sony 8mm handy cam for $800!! The sad thing is that I have seen some people actually still shooting content with that camera!!

bigpappa17934 09-20-2011 06:29 PM

Also, what ever happened to Sega in the gaming world?

tony286 09-20-2011 06:34 PM
