A paysite that converts tube traffic 1:88
 

Ok guys,
it's little sample size so it may be a lucky shot.

Bullshitters usually get caught, so I'll tell you exactly what happened:
1. we launched a new paysite
2. we uploaded a first promo clip to a tube (one of the largest ones, no niche)
3. the promo got about 300 clicks and made 4 sales (i.e. real sales, not trials)

I am quite sure that the conversion will go down (the overall conversion including junk traffic is actually 1:384 since launch)

However, even if it then gets twice or three times worse than 1:88, with tube type of traffic, I will still be happy.


I believe affiliates who jump fast on promoting this will be very happy too - especially if they have more targeted traffic than a generic large tube :-)

The site is ready for affiliate promotion, with tools, FLVs, hosted and whatnot. New promo FLVs are added almost everyday. The site itself updates twice a week.

PS: I know that Paul may say: "Big failure, it means that 87 users out of 88 did not buy, the Internet is doomed". Ok.

The site is AmateurLapdancer.com, and has just been launched in our program. Yes, I *expect* competitors to come up with imitations after this post. (But i will benefit from affiliates more than I may be harmed by competitors, so I chose to share this info with you.)

How did you made a Wordpress paysite? are you an affiliate of a big paysite or you shoot your own porn, can someone please explain it to me.

A/B tested WP vs. classic tour models, elevatedx type of things, and the "open" model, where everybody sees everything but only members can get the stuff, just converts better.

plus, your chargebacks will drop.

i guess it depends on the content/niche of the sites, though. what is true for amateur may not be true for glamour porn.

if i keep the current conversions, i won't touch a single thing on this site :)

WP sits on top of a custom script that opens up the content after you pay and become a member.
We tried this open model before, and it works really well (it's not our invention, other sites do it too...)

My 2c: if a site converts really well with a simple test-promo on generic tubes, it will convert awesomely for affiliates with a bit of targeted traffic.

That's why I am looking for affiliates...

(If I believed that promo-tube traffic was key, I wouldn't be here posting this). You can give it a try and report back :)

Try uploading that same vid to YouPorn or any of the PornHub family of tubes and see what'cha get. I wouldn't go dancing just yet. XHamster only keeps the vids on the Homepage for like 15-30 minutes. LOL Try a site where you can get 20k+ views and see how sales are. If you rock on those tubes you got a winner. XHamster is VERY specific and, in my experience, does not translate to other tubes.

Argos88: I submit to the "big ten" tubes, plus about 300 others using Tube Site Submitter tho I am unhappy with those results (many of the 300 tubes have little to no traffic/views so are almost worthless to me). The big tubes you will see many PeabodyCash sites.

As far as the question you asked another poster I think I can answer: you CANNOT make money, AS AN AFFILIATE, submitting to the big tube sites so stop bothering. you need to be a Content Partner or, if you make arrangements with your Sponser to be the de facto Content partner, fine. But just an 'average" affiliate who downloads the promo vids for tubes off of a program? No. Those videos are there in case you run your OWN tube site.

You may not see the option to add your affiliation links when you try to upload as a "user", but all the major tubes have options for sponsors to add them. You need to be a sponsor/content partner to do so, though. (In that sense, the tubes are the affiliates)

Ps: as far as your insults to Porno Jew, in your previous post - it seems you are having a bad day and that happens. In general, insults can be fun on this board, but I recommend to choose them in better taste whenever possible :) :2 cents:

If tubes only accept content from sponsors.

Building a massive tube is not possible, because 1% of companies own the HUGE TUBES after investing millions in them...

So, what is left for affiliates?

There is plenty of affiliates around that make really good money, tubes or not. In any industry there are some who fail and some who succeed.

I hope I don't sound harsh, but the industry is really not a charity - and it's not stipulated anywhere that 'any' affiliate should make money, no matter what (s)he does.

It's a matter of business interest, from any side: and from my 'own interest' side, I personally believe that affiliates are still *absolutely* key for any program to succeed or fail in this business. (That's why I try to get as many as possible, retain as many as possible, treat them as good as possible. But not for charity reasons, just because a great relationship with them is critical for me.)

Why I started this thread, you ask. Read my post: tube traffic is tipically converting worse than targeted/affiliate traffic, so if a site converts well on tubes it is reasonable to expect that it will do even better with non-tube traffic: an opportunity for affiliates, and of course for the program too.

All the sponsors use tubes. Many try to work only with the ones who will react to a DMCA - but if you think that it is possible for anyone in 2011 to "just ignore all tubes, no matter what", then you are ignoring reality, I'm afraid.

Just my :2 cents:. If you want to try to promote our program, I will give you all the support, as to other affiliates, in order to prove that 'there is still money in porn'. And there is. :thumbsup

yep, we upload promos to all the major ones for all our sites. xhamster in my experience is usually not the best converting one. So we'll see how much a winner this is, but looks promising.
