When I saw your post, it caught me off guard because I've known them as a spider species my entire life. I just checked and there are two different species called daddy long legs.

"Most folks who retell this tale have no idea that they are referring to two completely separate groups of animals: "daddy-longlegs" and "daddy-longlegs spiders".
