Linkspun....how the hell did I go so long with out it and who wants trades?

Hey Everyone - I have no admit, I was a naysayer. I didn't think you could make a 3rd party link trading system that worked (having tried to make one myself), but I'll have to say I am VERY impressed with Linkspun!

Whoever is behind that did a fantastic job - they really thought of everything. Of course, there are some annoying traders in there, but al-and-all - it's as good as you can get.

Who is behind that? I see JDoughs's name attached, but al of his sites are down and he's MIA - which is a bit worrisome. Too bad, I always had good dealings with that guy.

My username is 'xxxjay' in linkspun and if you want to do some trades find me in there!

I deny trades from non-English sites and sites that have blogrolls with 300 links that are longer than the blog and haven't been updated since 2009!

PS: Do you guys need a better server so that thing can run faster? I'd help out.

Find me on linkspun - 'xxxjay'

Thanks,
Jay

I will be hitting you up via linkspun.

Jakez 09-28-2011 09:40 AM

Linkspun is indeed nice. I just wish it wasn't all blog based.

TheSenator 09-28-2011 09:45 AM

JDoughs is still missing....

That worries me alot and no one knows where the fuck he is or what his situation is.

magicmike 09-28-2011 09:46 AM

Yeah its nice, the owner situation is tricky, maybe someone can get things sorted out. I like it, and use it.

I know him personally since he used to live in my town. He moved a couple years back, but we kept in contact. I've been trying to find him for quite some time. Getting very worried.

porno jew 09-28-2011 09:51 AM

his name doesn't come up in any news searches so i don;t think he killed a cop or burnt down a church.

i know his mom died and i think he got a divorce? in a short period of time so maybe he went bonkers.

V_RocKs 09-28-2011 10:01 AM

He is handling a personal situation and will be back eventually.

Linkspun.com has been taken over as a domain by a close friend of his to ensure it will always work. The hosting is covered by a contract to pimp them on the site. The backend is being managed and the functions like PR checking have been fixed.

Even if linkspun went down there is a plan in place to mirror it and keep it going.

So... Let Jdoughs handle his business and know that Linkspun.com will be here even if he left.

Waiter 09-28-2011 10:02 AM

agree :thumbsup here is a bump for Linkspun

Last time I spoke with him, he was trying to buy my old network in the guise of it being him when it was actually dating gold with the $$$. AFF wound up outbidding them, spoke with him a little after that, he was kinda bummed the deal didn't do through but understood.

From my experience, he's always been a hardworking, smart, honest guy.

Anyone know who the "other owners" are?

PR_Sebas 09-28-2011 10:06 AM

I kind of feel like Linkspun is already fading a bit. Not sure why this happens to all these link trade communities but it does.

I used to login everyday and find 3 or 4 trade requests, make a few of my own as well. Now I login once or twice a week and only find 2 or 3 trades.

Many of the users don't respond and I'm already seeing a lot more trade errors than I use to.

Here's hoping things turn around. Maybe the presence of xxxjay will turn things around ;)

porno jew 09-28-2011 10:06 AM

he's a great guy i agree. i think drocd was the programmer guy? i remember when he was trying to buy your sites as well.

Here is a little tip I use if I'm looking for a trade. When you get to the request page, look and see when the last time the user logged in. If I see they hadn't logged in for serveral months, I skip over the trade.

Deej 09-28-2011 10:14 AM

Holy shit... you still trade traffic? :upsidedow

Relentless 09-28-2011 10:22 AM

Linkspun has been all Jdoughs from the start. I was involved in the very early stages of testing, helping him sell ad spots and whatnot. The guy put together an amazing system, which isn't surprising - he is a bright guy who knows exactly what he is doing. I used to chat with him multiple times a day but haven't seen him around at all recently. I assume he has some personal business to deal with and will be back when he gets it all resolved.

In any case, I'm on there as Relentless and I'm always looking for quality trades. Send over some requests :2 cents:

Klen 09-28-2011 11:36 AM

Shit, I get like atleast 8-10 trade requests every day, you just gotta login once or twice so your pages show up at the top.

What's good with those promising penny stocks tho? Just fuckin' with ya :1orglaugh

seeric 09-29-2011 09:12 AM

I have about 256 trades in LinkSpun now.

Be careful of two things.

Some people think it's cute to add NoFollow tags after the trade is set up.
Some people are cloaking. Meaning showing the links on the page but hiding to Googlebot.

Just had a conversation about this with another LinkSpun trader this morning.

Those are the two most common things that the software can't help with.

Good luck.

Its a great tool but some people have more words in their list of rules than they have in their whole blog. The power of owning a blog or two goes to their heads.

I was doing that from about June to August and the only requests I would get were garbage. That was the other thing I found over the last little bit. It seemed like most of the quality traders had stopped logging in and all I was getting requests from were garbage sites with domains like thisbigtitty.somemaindomain.com.

I'll give it another shot over the next month. See what happens.

cybermike 09-29-2011 01:29 PM

BTW xxxjay was looking at the sites you have listed.. you probably should hide all the paysites.. I assume you don't want to put links on them but want links to them..

I think linkspun should not allow subdomains to get into system at all.I mean seriously if you cant afford 8$ yearly for fucking domain then you cant do anything in this biz.

if someone drops your trade you remove your link and stop it. It's pretty easy. I had some hosting issues a few weeks ago and a lot of people dropped my trades without giving me an opportunity to get them back online. I was kinda disappointed.

I do add a couple subdomains from my own hosting every once in awhile but I usually trade those with other subdomains...I see what you mean though, there's some people on there with like 500 thumblogger subdomains and it gets annoying wading through those to find good trades.

that's right. But sometimes there are some quite good subdomains that are better than a lot of domains :)

xxxjay 09-29-2011 02:15 PM

Nah - agree all that subdomain stuff is shit.

I can understand a few. But all you are doing is getting a links from the same site. Just makes the people look like they have more trades than they do

Not that I have seen. I have been hand checking them.
If you see a place can you show us? That would rock if I didn't have to hand check for dofollow/nofollow stuff.

The are some sites/programs that can find those things.

I'm going to hit this thread with a nice bit of knowledge about trading links / link etiquette, I see a lot of people making some common mistakes.

Relentless 09-29-2011 05:02 PM

Script does check for nofollow... I had a trade come back on the error list because the other party had no follow tagged my back link.

The best thing to check is number of trades a person already has...
For the most part guys who have 500+ trades on there aren't listing garbage.
You won't find too many premium sites, but for perfectly relevant hand written bulk back links it's the best free option out there.

Good to know! Thanks!

I must have cuaght some stuff before the scripts ran to catch them, i re: the nofollow thing anyhow.

Thanks!
