Which layout looks better to you?
Hi,
When I discovered that a theme I was using for a network of pornstar blogs wasn't fully compatible with Internet Explorer, I decided to make a change and little by little switch the blogs over to the new theme. Not only did I want a fully compatible theme, but if I was going to change my theme, I wanted to choose a nicer theme as well.... When I first chose the new theme, I thought the layout was hands down better than the original, but now... I'm having second thoughts I would appreciate it if I can get a few VOTES on the two themes Which theme looks better to you? (bearing in mind theme #1 loses stuff in MSIE and #2 looks identical in all browsers tested) #1 - Original theme: www.marielambo.com #2 - New theme: www.evanotty.net Much appreciated |
Regardless of which looks better, why would you even consider a theme that "loses stuff" in the most popular browser in the world? That's a non-starter to me.

That's a good question... and here is my answer:
When I made these blogs, I had 3 months of experience as a webmaster and 2 months of experience with Wordpress. I had to learn the hard way that MSIE is even worse than I thought it was and has to be treated like a disabled child when it comes to building a website. My assumption was that any modern browser should be able to handle a basic theme. It's really strange to be that the "most popular browser" also happens to be a major liability for webmasters. And quite frankly, if not for Internet Explorer, my assumption would have been correct! So there's my answer... I've been doing this for only a few months and Internet Explorer sucks even more than I initially thought. Now that this is out of the way, I would really appreciate if this thread gets back on topic and to anyone reading this... I would appreciate your opinion of which theme is better between the two? |
Probably second one... :pimp

I think I misread your question
There is no way I would consider using theme #1 since it isn't fully compatible with IE. In a nutshell, I just want to know if this new theme I have landed on is not a downgrade from the original theme in terms of appearance (towards this purpose let's pretend Theme #1 looks the same in IE as it does in other browsers) |

Anyway, appearance-wise the original theme is better looking IMO but since it doesn't work with IE what looks better is irrelevant. If it is broken you shouldn't even be considering it. If that site is live you're giving 50%+ of your visitors a poor experience and that's obviously unacceptable. |
I like theme #2

Old version: 1 vote
New version: 2 votes I guess its a coin toss... that's fine. I knew I couldn't go with the first theme any longer even though I liked it, but I just wanted to make sure that its replacement would not be a downgrade because this is something I'll be applying to nearly 20 sites. Thx for the feedback. |
The second theme is definitely better. Get rid of the space at the top. You should be able to see her tits without having to scroll down.
|
second one for sure..
|
2nd layout. Curious, are you getting nice traffic cause you got sweet google spot for your keyword.
|
second one
|
IRC freenode channel #css is your friend... however they wont be happy with adult content, so simply post a lorium ipsum wordpress with your theme and start solving IE problems:) They are great folk over there and will lend a helping hand to anyone who is equally kind.

Both layouts are great...
but the second the better |
I prefer the second template
