Looking For Places To Vacation ? Where Are Your Vacation Spots?

I?m looking for some ?non-party? vacation spot ideas. After a year of trying my husband and I are finally 12 weeks pregnant and want to go on a ?babymoon? to enjoy some peace and quiet before the baby comes. Not looking for a party location, obviously, but just a nice relaxing place to go with lots of sightseeing and fun activities. If you have any places please let me know and if you have pics and want to add them to this thread that would be great, too.

Miami is a very nice place but seems like more of a party place :)

My next trip is booked for Bonaire. Its about as non-party as you can get from what I've heard. But I hear the scuba diving is spectacular and I want to relax.

I had a great time once in Asheville NC.

The Biltmore Estate is Americas largest home and a tour that's incredible. Built by the youngest Vanderbilt son. This house is more than a 100 years old and built like nothing you will ever see. The son built this with basically his allowance since the only "job" he ever had was touring Europe for furnishings. This was when rich was rich (before income tax and anti trust laws)

Close by is the Grand Bohemian Hotel which is worth the trip in itself.

Also it's within easy driving distance for you. The fall and especially Christmas are real popular times so book early. You can actually spend an entire day just walking thru the house, stables, an incredible greenhouse and the grounds.

.

I'm going to Asheville this weekend actually. It?s a very pretty place this time of year with the leaves changing color in the mountains. I want to visit it over x-mas. I heard it?s amazing but have never had the time to check it out.

Hawaii - Maui & Oahu
Palm Springs, CA
Sedona, AZ
Napa Valley, CA - If you like wine
New Orleans, LA

Herb Kornfield 09-29-2011 06:00 PM

Corolla Light North Carolina .... very calm .... love it there.

Robbie 09-29-2011 06:03 PM

Go to Lake Tahoe. I've been there several times over the last few months. It's beautiful...but not so boring that you'll pass out either. You can still see some shows and gamble a bit on the Nevada side at the casinos...and of course the lake and mountains are breathtakingly beautiful.

Try finding something on Tablet.

http://www.tablethotels.com/Hotels-R...ions/Vacations

I chose US/Canada, Unusual, Romance, and Secluded for 2 Adults from 10/21-10/28. This hotel looks nice.

It's a great way to find interesting travel spots. Here's a nice relaxing, non-party resort if you're up for Jamaica.

Vacation

In a month or so, the Ozarks will be as beautiful as New England. Also, since it's past Labor Day, the idiots have all gone home from the lake. But the entire region is beautiful. Smaller the town, father from Lake of the Ozarks or Branson, the better. However, a waterfront spot on Lake of the Ozarks this time of year is beautiful & quiet.

Zarathustra 09-30-2011 01:57 AM

I recommend Bora Bora, good place when you need to relax and dont want a crowd of people

Icy 09-30-2011 02:02 AM

Come to Spain, still good weather specially at the mediterranean coast, nice food, lots of historical places to visit and things to do.

Sedona is cool looking for a day... :)

Hit the Caribbean, St. Croix VI is relaxing, not a lot of tourists, plenty of stuff to do and it's not over priced.

For a bit more life, hit st. maarten instead.

And this time of year, it's cheap!

What are some of the things to see besides the leaves? I have heard lake Michigan is pretty. What's the weather like the end of October?

candyflip 09-30-2011 07:28 AM

I come from a family of Disney nuts, so we always head there and do something completely different each time.

Rochard 09-30-2011 09:10 AM

I was thinking about this earlier this morning. I've always wanted to visit Hawaii, and I think now is the time. I want to go early next year. Oh, we'll visit the tourist stuff - I'm a huge WW2 buff and Pearl Harbor and all - but I also want to go off on the far side of the big island where the tourists don't usually go.

I want to buy a small house there some day.

I lived there for a number of years and vacation there frequently. Would have moved back years ago except dogs have to spend 6 months in quarantine when entering the state. Couldn't do that to my buddy.

The Maldives. Thank me later. It's heaven on earth. Nothing to do but relax, snorkel, swim, eat good food. I went last year with my fiancee, we loved it.

Try Beautiful Sedona, Arizona. They have cabins by the creek and it is one of our favorite places to totally relax ;)

Have been to both places, Telluride twice, if you love the rockies, it is breathtaking up there. Have some old pictures of the Bridal Veil falls, actually there is something like 9 waterfalls you can see from the center of the town.
