You learn something new everyday
Last week i changed something on 1 of my sites. I made my potential members skip 1 page.
A page before the sign up page which basically said "this part of the site is for paying members only. The other part is still free. (It was more detailed but i'm not using the exact words because of all the idiots here who will Google it and copy my elite shit)
I did this because the general rule is if somebody wants to sign up you need to make it as easy as possible for them to do so.
This one little change resulted in 80% less hits to the ccbill sign up page.
80% you think, that's crazy...hard to believe.
I can guarantee you it's true. I'm totally amazed by it myself.
I was about to come here and cry about ccbill. I was about to mail/call ccbill and give them shit. But since i'm fucking smart as fuck i figured i was gonna find out what was causing this myself.
My first guess was traffic dropped. But traffic doesn't drop overnight with 80%. (Unless you are a noob like 95% of you idiots). And also the signups for the free part of the site were the same as before. So i eliminated every possible reason why this was happening and the only thing i could think of eventually was the page i deleted and replaced with a redirect to the sign up page.
I put the old page back online and already within hours the signup form hits and signups were back to normal.
After doing this stuff for 10 years you'd think you know everything but you don't.
Imagine if i never used that 'warning' page in the first place. I wouldn't even know that i lost 80% of my signups.
Word to ya mom yo.
