The Playboy Club Cancelled

I called this one. NBC always has one or two they cancel after a few episodes. This one had disaster written all over it.

Sorry Rochard.

Rochard 10-04-2011 01:15 PM

No big surprise. It was lame. What a shame - so much potential.

I'll stick with Sons of Anarchy which is on tonight.

onedree 10-04-2011 01:16 PM

I have a feeling Whitney will be the next cancellation ...

I avoid NBC pretty much because of this. They cut and run pretty quickly.

If they make it past the first few weeks I might take a look.

I'll be watching that on a 70" tv , need to pick up some rum

CIVMatt 10-04-2011 01:30 PM

The problem is this show was meant for HBO for the simple reason of pushing good storylines.

The writers were phoning it in

Wizzo 10-04-2011 01:40 PM

Who didn't see that coming, even the previews looked like a horrible storyline.

topsiteking 10-04-2011 01:43 PM

People still watch TV?

brassmonkey 10-04-2011 01:45 PM

in the 80's when snow was rolling maybe would have lasted a season or two.

Abbie 10-04-2011 01:46 PM

I tried to get into the PB Club show, but it was just sooooo slow and didn't leave you anticipating anything more.

CDSmith 10-04-2011 01:47 PM

Yes, if HBO had of produced it it would very likely be a different story.

And more bunny nudity.

bronco67 10-04-2011 01:48 PM

Who wants to see a sanitized, network friendly vision of Playboy club debauchery set in the 60's?

I would have asked that question, then said "no greenlight, bitches".

CDSmith 10-04-2011 01:54 PM

What, 3 episodes in and one of the main parts of the plot, the mob guy poking around every so often looking for his missing daddy was already getting annoying. I kept thinking why doesn't someone just push that guy's face in already and be done with his persistant badgering of the new girl.

This series won't be missed, at least not in it's present form. Like I said I'd love to see what HBO (or Showtime, or even Movie Central for that matter) could do with the idea. It really needed the level of mystery/intrigue/violence & sexuality that only those networks seem to be able to deliver.

GTS Mark 10-04-2011 02:14 PM

Thanks Hef!!! ;-))

thickcash_amo 10-04-2011 02:17 PM

I don't really watch these stupid sitcom shows so I know I wont miss it

Lace 10-04-2011 02:42 PM

I just started watching these on Hulu too :( Wasn't that bad of a show. Reminds me of how Outsourced was canned fairly quickly.

Outsourced just wasn't renewed. It got a full first season. They actually gave it a chance, but killed it when they tried to do three hours of sitcoms on Thursday nights.

V_RocKs 10-04-2011 05:08 PM

Gay ass shit...

amateurcanada 10-04-2011 09:04 PM

They ordered a full season of Whitney and Up All Night. Free Agents though looks to be getting the Axe soon.

Casanova 10-05-2011 01:39 AM

It's because Mad Men, which takes place in the 60s has been a huge hit for AMC. They always try to copy what works for someone else.
