ATT, Sprint or Verizon
Hi All,
I have had ATT for years now since the iPhone came out and I wanted to get opinions on which would be best for a new iPhone upgrade. I won't be getting a droid so google lovers need not post in here about how great Android is. Now that sprint is in the mix, they seem to have the best plans, right? How is the coverage in the LA area and beyond? Educated responses are appreciated... https://static.ips.apple.com.edgekey..._US/index.html Thanks, Mitch |

I was with AT&T for years, then switched to Sprint to get the HTC Evo last year. Hated it ever since. 4G doesn't work anywhere it seems, and the data may be unlimited, but I could never seem to get it to work. Updating Alysha's Twitter while we were out and about would take forever, same with sending pics, etc. Switched back to AT&T this week to get the new Samsung Galaxy S2 and couldn't be happier. 4G actually works, data (while not unlimited) works great.
Of course, I'm in Tampa, FL... so not sure how it is in your neck of the woods. :-) |
Here's a pretty good article comparing the 3: http://techland.time.com/2011/10/07/...ns-by-carrier/

I have had all of them over the years and Verizon is my favorite.
I extended my contract (2 years) yesterday and got the new Droid Bionic, it's awesome :) |
ive had AT&T for years and ditched them for Verizon. Feels like I just was cured of AIDS :2 cents:

Satisfied Sprint customer for years now. 4G wimax is shit, but they just announced a switch to LTE for 2012.
|
I use T-mobile and Verizon. No problems with either other than the fact the VZ doesn't work in the EU.

was with att from back from the bellsouth days. You really cant compare yet until the phone is on the network. Before my first iphone, I had a grey market nokia on att. The signal quality was amazing, with the iphone not so amazing. I switched to sprint and got the samsung galaxy 2 it has better signal to me. Even thought the manufactures deny this, the phone effects signal quality as much as the carrier.

Excellent info so far
Thanks, Mitch |
I love Sprint.
|
Can you send data while talking on the phone with Sprint like you can with ATT and unlike Verizon?
|
I use t-mobile and sprint, and out of your choices I would probably go with Verizon. They seem to have the best coverage and best network out of the three.
|
I have been a sprint customer for a very long time. I like the plan I have so I don't think I will be changing any time soon
|
Disclaimer: I use sprint and previously had Cingular/ATT. I had the first generation Iphone with ATT.
To answer your question. Verizon and At&T is going to get you 4G when you get the Iphone 5 next year. Sprint just today mentioned that they will got to LTE in limited markets in 2012. If you can afford it, which you can Mitch, go with Verizon they maybe your best option when switch to the Iphone 5. Make a point to buy it at Best Buy, so you can get the FREE upgrade. Apple isn't going to make a WiMax Iphone for Sprint. "The nation’s number 3 network will officially turn on their LTE network in limited markets in mid-2012, and will complete a full implementation of nationwide LTE coverage by the end of 2013." |
Great info Score! However, what makes VeriZon better then ATT?
|
Wait for Metro PCS. As long as you have their secret answer on the first call customer service number they are the best. $40/mo FLAT unlimited for everything. (but no tethering)
|
Mitch how are you buddy?
Here is some info for you. ATT does NOT have a 4G network. Verizon has the best coverage with the most towers all over the country. Sprint's 4G network is about the size of a 5 block radius (not really 5 blocks but you catch my drift) Currently ATT is the only network that let's you call and surf at the same time. All that being said, Verizon's plans are the most expensive but they have the best coverage. Since you are dealing with an iPhone, 4G, wimax, nor LTE will make any difference to you as of right now. In my personal opinion, ATT's network is overcrowded and the users are suffering with many dropped calls and bad signals in many places. |
Mitch, you cant use data + voice at the same time on VZ or Sprint...
thats the main difference, its a big difference actually |
stop thinking about 4G
only 5% of the country is covered by 4g networks currently and 4g phones are huge battery draining machines. not worth it for at least another year + |

btw iphone 4s on ATT is will be the only one using ATT's upgraded 3G+ UMTS network... should be better than current 3g network.. |
I can call and use data all day long, with no restrictions on Sprint.
