Why you mad though?

Dubya 10-09-2011 11:35 AM

Do you really need it there anyway? http is the standard protocol for browser use.

alextokyo 10-09-2011 11:37 AM

Dumbed down and easy to understand for the facebook/twitter generation.

Maybe he wants to see if it's "https://" or "ftp://" or "rtmp://" or.......

alextokyo 10-09-2011 11:44 AM

Also, removal of the static status bar and numerous other features was a fucking stupid idea. Would it really have pained them so much to just leave these features in? Seems like more work to actually eliminate them rather than just let them be. Now you have to rely on a 3rd party add-on to keep the status bar visible at all times because a bunch of netbook-toting, bieber-generation twats want to maximize screen space. Now every time you update (or if you start having problems with browser crashes) you have to ask yourself, will this add-on be compatible with the update? Is this add-on causing problem X? For simple features and functions that should come as standard. Pisses me the fuck off.

brassmonkey 10-09-2011 11:44 AM

they show you with green when you are on HTTPS i think...

marlboroack 10-09-2011 12:08 PM

It can all be changed in settings. If you are about to enter an insecure site, your browser will generally notify you.. Or your virus protection software. Right?

brassmonkey 10-09-2011 01:15 PM

they wrote out the status bar now this shit

That pretty much sums up 90% of the internet.

nickutis 10-09-2011 01:35 PM

while you're at it .... setting browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled to False will stop firefox 7 from greying out the paths after the TLD ... :thumbsup

https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1041128 copy the address bar -- the http magically reappears ..

pornmasta 10-09-2011 05:37 PM

They are changing useless stuffs to say "hey we are improving our browser, now it is more/less {insert criteria}"

While it bothers the user who has to adapt or die...

change is good, you don't need it there.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 10-09-2011 07:45 PM

Download Pale Moon and the FF profile migration tool and get back to the good old days of FF.

Firefox's older brother Mozilla Seamonkey isn't getting the dumbing down treatment. Seamonkey is intended more for webmasters and other technically competent people and I've always thought it to be better of the pair.

Please do let your thoughts be known on the Firefox forums too.

My Firefox froze up too. I got rid of this after deleting all history and cached data.
