Could this kid not make a killing doing cartoons, logos, etc?

Friend of mine is the designer for a little skateboard company him and his friends started up about a year ago. He can draw ANYTHING in photoshop, and on paper of course, and I think he could easily do some nice logos. I've seen him design a layout before but not sure if he has any splicing or html skills.

Would he have a chance at making a living off from drawing cartoons and logos in this industry? Are there companies that would hire him or is it more a freelance thing?

They have boards in local shops and do contests and all that but he's still hardly making beer money off from his part on the team (as far as I know) and that kills his motivation, I think they have too many people that aren't bringing anything to the table. But that's their problem, I just think my buddy could put his work to use better elsewhere if he's not happy with the skateboards thing.

That kid is beyond porn... He should be doing graphics for mainstream entertainment...i.e. Hollywood.

If he can do a couple logos for me cheap let me know. I would hire him in an instant...

Hard to say how good he is based on these samples. This particular design style is popular with young teenage boys, but it doesn't go over well with the rest of the population.

It's not bad... he should keep at it though and develop his skills.... or is that skillz ;)

:2 cents:

Pretty generic, really. Every graphic artist who makes stuff for local bands and bars does stuff just like that.

edit: I do really like the super soaker hot sauce gun, though.

He should focus on custom graphics for cars and that type of thing. While he probably doesn't appeal to too many 40 year olds, he does to the age group advertisers love because they are so willing to part with their money.
