New (mainstream) Website - WP or no WP?

I've been considering launching a new site on wordpress, but then read something the other night about how, not only are there so many issues, but the SE's are now looking at them more as a "spam" site than anything else.

By spam, its meant that its easy to install a WP site, however most are filled with junk comments and posts from pill spammers putting up links on their site.

There are a few other CMS's out there, but im thinking, why not just do this old school and build it out in notepad in HTML (php pages of course)? I dont need to make scheduled updates on content as this is a service product.

Hmm...

If I had the luxury of time, I would install a Drupal site.

Add
remove_action('wp_head', 'wp_generator');
to your theme's functions.php

And remove any mention of Wordpress in plaintext (footer.php should be the place to look). Problem solved, if there was one to begin with.

That said, Wordpress is getting horribly bloated.
