Well, I think a lot of it has to do with the tools available.
Now before you shrug off what I have to say as the usual bullshit spam on this forum, listen to what I have to say. :)
First of all, I am not lecturing or giving advice as a person who's
made it in this biz. This is my full time gig, but I make a modest income, no, I'm not a millionare showing off with exoticss, amazing super models surrounding me in a penthouse mansion.
Second of all, when I say
niches I don't mean lesbian, anal, amateur, etc. I throw out the term 'niche' because AMP is one of the few programs you can send targeted traffic to and convert very, very well IF you spend the time to be as specific as a site like AMP allows you to be. Yes, I know how that sounds, (:1orglaugh) keep reading!
You can't throw in a link to 'lesbian' DVD's on AMP and have crazy low ratios. Don't expect to create a TGP or tube with ridiculously long previews of hundreds of videos and convert less than 1:1000. It takes quite a bit of work but the good news is it's possible for anyone on any budget and your time spent will continue to pay off for years.
Want to know what the best part is? I have had my blogs with NO original content actually be spammed on forums and other sites. Can you believe that users are actually grateful? Can you believe people have joined AMP, later uploaded a video to youtube or another site then linked back to my blog. I have even had a guy put a fucking WATERMARK on a video of my domain name. :1orglaugh
The dose of truth with these type of ratios is, you're limited in the amount of traffic you can generate to pull it off. The ratios you're seeing in my sig aren't a trick or secret that you're being let in on, (what most people would like you to assume when you see a ratio like that in a sig on here).
FOR EXAMPLE, if you're pushing 'hand jobs given to men with little dicks' you're NOT going to be able to generate that much traffic, (lol). The good news is, the traffic you do generate will convert like crazy and with the small amount of competition out there it won't cost you much and it will consistently make you money for years.
Try doing that with any other broad niche or paysite for the matter. You won't get listed until the 3rd or 4th page WITH a pr3+ rank.
