Went To My First NFL Game Today (I'm European)
So today I went to the Detroit Lions game. Living in Windsor, Onatario, we're literally 15 mins from my house to the stadium (thru border control of course)
As a European and a HUGE Soccer fan, I wanted to see what the fuss was all about, I mean I watch NFL on TV from time to time and I do get into it now and again, but actually being at the game was good. The atmosphere the Lions fans created was amazing, on a par with any big Soccer match I've been to (although the high fiving still fucking annoys me!) All in all, I see why people go nuts for NFL, there is a lot of skill to the game that you don't quite get by watching it on TV if you don't know much about the sport. The length of the games are kinda annoying as well, the game started at 1pm and we got out at 4:40pm or something. I was very impressed tho and will definately be going to another game this season. I still prefer Soccer over NFL - and always will - but the longer I live in North America, the more I think I will take to this Sport you guys all love so much. |
If you've never played a sport as a kid it would indeed be hard to show an interest. Kind of like me with soccer or hockey.
|
games in person at the stadium are alot different then on tv for sure.
|
I hate sports, i do porn. Glad you enjoyed the sport though.
|
cool, next up is some hockey games for ya, you have the redwings close as well & hockey games in person are so much more fun! cheers!
|
Ok thanks for being open minded and actually watching an NFL game but on behalf of of all Americans let me say that soccer is still gay and we will never actually be open minded enough to find out if it is really not as gay as we think it is.........because it really is gay.:thumbsup Any sport that allows it's players to "take dives" where they fake injuries to get penalties called on the other team is completely, 100%, without-a -doubt, totally gay. If you guys get rid of players who take dives then I will begin to watch soccer again.

Oh and *******, diving is weak I agree, however, the skill in Soccer is incredible. It baffles me why people in USA don't like soccer. Maybe it's coz there isn't enough commercials? :winkwink: |
Football is the one sport I prefer on TV - depends on where your seats are. Hockey and basketball are much better in person.
that's a nice new stadium in Detroit and an up and coming team that will get better and better so i'm sure there was great atmosphere. |
You fucker! You never told me you were going to that. I've always wanted to check out an NFL game. Maybe someday. NFL is in London next weekend.
How does it compare to the baseball games you've been to then ?? |

Glad you enjoyed it, but you're rooting for the wrong team. :)

Don't spread the word too much. Your fellow Europeans may not let you back in.
|

funny how 16 of the 18 teams in the MLS are in the states... I guess it's only europeans that go to those? |

Speaking about injuries, i see it more and more in the NFL and College Football |
Sounds like a great atmosphere and an unique experience. I'd like to try it for myself.

Soccer players fake injuries not as a tactic, but just to be drama queen faggots. :1orglaugh At least in American football when they fake injuries they just go down. These faggots look like they went to a bad acting school to fake their injuries, rolling around on the floor, crying, screaming, flaying their arms around. Jesus, lol. |
Soccer fails only because it allows ties or uses ridiculous tie-break measures thar have nothing to do with the game. If your team is weaker than an opponent play for a tie and take your chances on a shootout.... they should change the rules so if a game ends in a tie they keep playing with each team one man down. Every 5 minutes both teams lose another man. Playing for a tie would not save a bad team and it would exhaust both teams prior to the next match so there would be a huge incentive to win during regulation time.
On the other hand, no commercial breaks is a huge plus for soccer over football. |
