Surprise: Undercover Cops Paid To Be Loud and Disruptive at OWS Protests

Well, this is sort of a scary story: Marshall Garrett, one of the protesters who was arrested during Saturday?s Occupy Wall Street march for trying to hold a General Assembly in Citibank, told the Village Voice what went down that day. Apparently a plainclothed cop had been very well informed of the situation ahead of time and hidden himself in the crowd.

Here?s what Mr. Garrett told the paper:

But what was unknown to us and to a lot of people that day, including those in Times Square, was that there were undercover cops already there, paid to be disruptive and to be loud. One undercover cop present [at Citi] was louder than the entire group.

wonder why undercover cops didn't do the same at tea party protests? they're a populist movement as well, right?

:1orglaughHahaha.
Yeah and and and they also hid Bigfoot in the crowd too.
He makes a lot of noise and can't be found either.

It's a very common tactic, I wouldn't be surprised. Similar ordeals have been exposed many times in the past.

There's nothing to be exposed here that's devious or deceptive. There's simply information available that some factions of this group are preaching and threatening violence. There's also a growing anti-semitic element... something that's not being reported by mainstream media. The fact that some of these people openly state that the "zionist jew bankers" of Wall Street should be run out of the country isn't newsworthy, I guess. If a teaparty member had said something like this... well, you just imagine what the media would do with it. Anyway, undercover cops are just doing their jobs if they are working that crowd.

No doubt. Cops were caught a few times here in Canada doing this so I have no doubts its going on in the States too.

it is being reported actually and being used to smear, but of course any open source movement is going to try and be used by scumbags. it is what it is.

the adl has even give OWS a pass:

?There is no evidence that these anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are representative of the larger movement or that they are gaining traction with other participants,? Foxman?s statement read.

They're trying to do everything in their power to divert attention away from the protestors or to discredit their cause. They will stop at nothing. Don't be surprised if USA declares war on Iran just to create a smoke screen if things continue to escalate.

That's what it means to be "undercover."

Duh.

To cause a disturbance and try to incite violence?

thickcash_amo 10-20-2011 11:32 AM

isn't that what they are supposed to do?

Rochard 10-20-2011 11:37 AM

In case you haven't noticed, the NYPD is over reaching to protect the city after 9/11. Undercover cops are everywhere, including other states.

the last public protest i was at there were obvious undercover cops, but they just sat there observing.

trying to incite the crowd and purposely trying to make protesters look bad is a different story.
