Nethorse's 2011 NFL season thread (no sig)

I disabled my sig.

Here are my week 7 picks

Bears over Bucs
Browns over Hawks
Broncos over Dolphins
Jets over Chargers
Falcons over Lions
Panthers over Skins, (upset pick)
Texans over Titans
Steelers over Cardinals
Raiders over Chiefs
Cowboys over Rams
Packers over Vikings
Saints over Colts
Ravens over Jaguars

In the news, I feel bad for the Saints and Brees. Olen Kruetz ditching their team 1/3 of the way into the season is a dick move. I'm embarrassed he came from the Bears. :(

49ers is my team to root for this season since the Bears playoff chances are looking pretty bleak. I like Gore, and their line is pretty sick, (#2 in run defense). If they fix their issues in their secondary they could be a real threat.

Ravens could win it all this season, but I hate Flacco so fuck them. :)

I didn't like the Eagles coming into the season, but for some strange reason I want to seem them turn it all around.

Fuck the Packers. I hope they go 16-0 and then get knocked out in their first playoff game. :upsidedow

Tebow and Ponder will be interesting to watch tomorrow! Gotta love seeing talented rookies get their shots. :thumbsup

Bengals! Their defense is impressive to say the least.

dynastoned 10-22-2011 11:41 AM

chargers > jets
lions > falcons

and id say you have a pretty legit week

I picked those two teams to win because of the position they are in. I think we can all appreciate what Rex Ryan is capable of when it comes to figuring out what it takes to shutdown a team's offense, (cough, Patriots, Brady, playoffs). With the Bills doing well this season their playoff chances would be bleak if they lost. I expect them to shutdown the Chargers tomorrow.

Same with the Falcons. The Lions have a strong line, but I think their weaknesses were exposed last week. I expect the Falcons to tear apart the Lions secondary with quick slants and screens.

In these parts the talk is about the thanksgiving day harbaugh brothers battle!!!

I live in Raven Country but am a hardcore die hard 49er for life....its going to get plenty rowdy around here on thanksgiving especially if the teams stay on current path....

VERY VERY REAL POSSIBILITY of both teams 49ers and ravens being 8 and 1 for a thanksgiving day showdown!

It's going to be a great game, but as much as I hate to admit it, the 49ers are probably going to lose.

Ravens have a murderous line, (literally :1orglaugh) which is pretty fucking efficient at totally shutting down a team's running game. Added to the fact the 49ers don't have much of a passing game it's going to be hard for them to put points on the board.

Then add to the fact Flacco loves to chuck the ball down the field which presents it's own problems with the niners mediocre secondary.

Who knows though, they got another month to fix some of their issues.

As for them being 8-1 going into that game, I agree, very real possibility. :thumbsup

dynastoned 10-22-2011 01:02 PM

the problem is the jets haven't been able to shut down anyone this year. sure they steamrolled the jags and the dolphins but who hasn't? they've had their ass handed to them by every winning team they have faced.

they can't stop the run and their offense can't move the ball. it doesn't look good thats all i'm saying. thats why i have chargers > jets.

i have detroit over the falcons because atlanta has been kinda lame all year. roddy white and julio jones have a combined 2 touchdowns all year. however they did get back to running the ball which is good. but i still have them losing to the lions because of megatron and they are playing in detroit.

You could be right man.

But in all fairness, the Jets have ALWAYS been a mediocre football team. They just have a habit coming up big in games like these where a lot is riding on a win.

I think it's going to be a nail bitter even if the Jets win, but we will see.

As for the Lions, yes, Megatron is just fucking ridiculous, and I agree that the Falcons have been pretty lame this year. I think the Lions are a little overrated though, the only team they've beat with a winning record is the Bucs. That's nothing to really brag about.

I think the Falcons can contain a team like the Lions. Megatron might be one of the best receivers in the league, but Stafford doesn't always do a good job of throwing the ball to him. When he gets hit he gets spooked and rushes throws.

If the dolphins could play against tebow every week, they would have a chance to go undefeated again. He may be the worst NFL quarterback I have ever seen.

Damn the fins suck. "Suck for luck!"

CDSmith 10-23-2011 01:46 PM

Nethorse's picks are looking pretty good so far, at least the early games.

Better than my picks at least.

I can't believe the Raiders got blown out by the Chiefs like that. :helpme

Assuming the Jaguars don't pull off the impossible tomorrow I will go 12-1 for week 7. :) My picks were pretty lousy last week though. :1orglaugh

I failed though, I posted on my phone and didn't disable my sig for a couple of the posts! :upsidedow

NetHorse 10-24-2011 11:54 PM

I can't believe the Jaguars won! Sooooooo, after stomping the Steelers, Texans and Jets you felt obligated to lose on prime time to the 1-6 Jags!??

Way to fuck up my picks, dicks!

Aquarius 10-26-2011 12:36 PM

Very nice NetHorse. How do see week 8?

troncarver 10-26-2011 02:27 PM

good picks man

NetHorse 10-28-2011 04:49 PM

Thanks fellas!

Here are my picks for week 8

Titans over Colts
Saints over Rams
Giants over Dolphins
Vikings over Panthers
Ravens over Cards
Texans over Jags
Bills over Skins
Lions over Broncos
Steelers over Pats
49ers over Browns
Bengals over Seahawks
Eagles over Cowboys
Chargers over Chiefs

In the news, Bears trade Chris Harris! He wasn't that productive for a few games this season, but he's been the glue in others.

Stafford should start against the Broncos.

Chiefs think they will undoubtedly beat the Chargers, lets see it. They don't have the offensive production to beat Rivers.

Eagles / Cowboys, definitely the game of the week. Cowboy fans think because their rookie RB ran for 253 yards against the Rams that the Eagle's poor run defense will hand them this game.

Get real! Primetime, playoff implications, one of he most explosive offenses in the NFL. I will be very surprised if the Eagles don't win this one.

Steelers and Pats, another great game. Honestly, this one could go either way. The Pats pass defense is just horrible, and the Steeler receivers have been doing a number on secondaries over the last few weeks. But Brady doesn't need to rely on his defense to win games, as we all know.

I'm gonna go with the Steelers, I think they're going to blitz, blitz, blitz and put Brady on his back.

Vikings over Panthers. Peterson, Panther's run D, enough said.

Lets hear your picks!

PornMD 10-28-2011 05:26 PM

I hope Rivers has a good game to shut people up. Yea he hasn't had the protection he's used to and people aren't really getting open, so he just really needs a good game despite that stuff. I think this will be a tough year for the bolts to get to the playoffs but if they make it, they'll do better than the last few times because they'll have needed more determination to get there.

NetHorse 10-30-2011 09:06 PM

Well depending on the outcome of tomorrow's game I'm 11-1 for the week. Won $300 this week picking the Steelers and Vikings to win. :)

Another crazy upset threw off my picks, last week it was the Ravens losing to the Jags, this week the Saints to the Rams!

NetHorse 10-31-2011 09:28 PM

Fucking Rivers!!!!!!!!!!!! Lost $110 on tonight's game..:disgust

11-2 on the week.

470+ yards, 1 TD...ugh. They may be tied for first in division still but I don't think they'll make the playoffs at this rate. Rivers just is not having a great year...maybe he IS hurt like everyone is speculating.

Something is a miss, they got a tough 3 games ahead of them so who knows how long they'll be in 1st place. The penalties and lack of red zone production was a killer, and the fumbled snap, CHRIST!! :Oh crap

NetHorse 11-03-2011 05:34 PM

Week 9 picks

Bears over Eagles, (odds are against them, but I'm a Bears fan! :))
Jets over Bills
Chiefs over Dolphins
Falcons over Colts
Cowboys over Hawks
49ers over Redskins
Saints over Bucs
Texans over Browns
Raiders over Broncos
Titans over Bengals
Cardinals over Rams
Packers over Chargers
Pats over Gmen
Steelers over Ravens

NetHorse 11-06-2011 01:43 PM

Jesus I should've given more credit to the phins offense. The chiefs really do suck, I guess they threw me off with their recent wins, (games that were really handed to them more than anything else).

If they had kept Schottenheimer as their coach they would have made several trips to the SuperBowl

As a Redskins fan I can honestly say Turner is the real loser here!

HandballJim 11-06-2011 06:31 PM

your picks were pretty on today,

I am glad the Giants won though...the game had no score at halftime for the 1st time this NFL season, but the second half was awesome.

CDSmith 11-06-2011 08:46 PM

I need your pick of Steelers over Ravens to come true. And for MNF sorry but I need the Eagles to step up and win by a good margin, I think the spread is a TD or more.

Eagles by 10!

So nice to see my Niners go 7-1. :D

Yeah, odds are clearly against them, I picked the Bears anyways. :1orglaugh

My picks were lousy this week.

9-4 so far. :(

I'm shocked at the Pats offense, I thought they would rip right through the Giants secondary.

Ravens / Steelers, that's a game that could've gone either way. I picked the Steelers because of their offense over the last few weeks, and the Ravens lack of it.

Broncos and Raiders, I forgot how lousy the Raider's run defense is, almost dead last. Tebow might be a garbage QB, but he's a strong runner and he definitely exposed the Raiders weakness.

Bears win! I got a ton of offers to bet on last night's game and I turned them all down! Dammit.

NetHorse 11-10-2011 07:00 PM

I made my picks in pussycash's pool, but here are my picks.

Chargers over Raiders
Bears over Lions
Giants over 49ers
Packers over Vikings
Broncos over Chiefs
Steelers over Bengals
Rams over Browns
Texans over Bucs
Jags over Colts
Cowboys over Bills
Eagles over Cards
Saints over Falcons
Pats over Jets
Ravens over Hawks
Dolphins over Redskins
Panthers over Titans, (upset)

Yes, yes you did. :upsidedow

I'd like to say, in hindsight...but I just can't believe how poor the Charger's offense continues to be. I really thought they would've turned it around last night.

As for the Giants and Niners, we will see! Eli has has some pretty good games, the niners might have one of the best run D's but lets see what their secondary can do when a team lets it fly. :)

NaughtyVisions 11-11-2011 10:27 AM

Niners HAVE to beat the Giants. Then, Eagles beat the Cards this weekend, next week Eagles over Giants, and boom! The Eagles are right back in the NFC East title hunt! :thumbsup

Spoken like a true dreamer,...uh, Eagles fan,.... no DREAMER.... ha ha no, Eagles Fan....

Niners beating the Giants... doable.
Eagles beating the Cards.... also doable.
Eagles beating the Giants?.... this one I'm not so sure about. Philly really had their shot last week and blew it losing to the Bears. They're really going to have to get their shit together against Phoenix, win that game, then step it up the next week even further in order to beat the Giants the following week.

I like Philly, don't get me wrong. I think the Eagles by rights should be at least a 6-2 team right now, how they're not is mind boggling.

The Eagles have blown FOUR fourth quarter leads this season. They're beating/killing themselves. Each week I watch them forget the basics and fundamentals (how many dropped balls DeSean? How many missed tackles defense?) and lose games they should have won. They are a talented team, and not just on paper. The problem is they need to pull their heads out of their asses and play football at 100% for 100% of the game. Stop the stupid penalties, stop the stupid mistakes. If they can do that, I still believe they can win the Superbowl. But time is running out on them.

Time to switch to a winning team.

I stay loyal to my team, win or lose. But I learned at an early age, watching games from the Randall Cunningham era with my dad, that the Eagles will always find a way to lose a game.

From my experiences as a kid watching them, I don't feel comfortable that they will win a game unless they have at least a 3 touchdown lead. And with the way this season has been going with the fourth quarter leads being blown, in the coming years I probably won't be confident that they will win the game until there's about 10 seconds left on the clock.

I get pissed at the coaching, the playcalling, the effort by the players, but then Andy Reid makes it so I can't stay mad at him:

In order to make the playoffs the Eagles can't lose another game.

And the way they've been playing I can't see them making it this year.

Vikings over Broncos

Titans over Bills
Falcons over Texans
Pats over Colts
Steelers over Bengals
Jets over Skins
Panthers over Bucs
Ravens over Browns
Cowboys over Cards
Niners over Rams
Packers over Giants
