Thinking of selling my network of sites... question first
 

Back a while ago I had the time to work on my pretty big network of affiliate sites. I was running a hybrid of TGP and Tube site which was getting a decent amount of traffic and sales. Went to upgrade software and fucked a lot of things up so right now its ONLY TGP sites, with the exception of a two or so are tubes and some blogs.

Current network gets about 10k uniques per month, must less than it was before but thats what happens when you don't work on your stuff right.

Basically, I would be selling the domains and page layouts, which are in TGPx, the scripts, content, the hole nine yards.

My question... would it be worth while to get this back up and going as the tube/tgp hybrid and increase traffic or just better to sell as is. Meaning, if I put a ton of work into this, will it be worth 3x or 5x more?

I have everything setup on a dedicated server which is $99/mo. Id considering just handing off the hole deal to someone including the box and you can do with it what you please. If you want the stats on the server, let me know.

Only 10k a month or do you really mean a day?

10k uniques a month. very little traffic. was around 15k or so a day back over a year ago but slowly dying out. mainly because sites that I was trading traffic with have died and organic traffic has slowed because I have not been up on the SEO.

Sorry it's not worth much then. Just the scripts if paid and the domains + designs. I would try to build it back up if you think you can get that to at least 10k a day first.

thats the thing... is it even worth doing that. if i get it to 10k a day, then how much is it worth then over just the domains and scripts, plus some of the shitty designs?

meaning, if its worth $1k now and I reinstall all the scripts, get the traffic back up in 3 months, would it be worth $5k or just $2k?

I don't mean to bring bad news but TGPX sells for $50 for a server license now. I don't know if the trade scripts are paid. With 10k a month traffic I doubt the network even pays for the $99 monthly server. With only 10k a month in traffic I'd guess much of that is bots hitting the site. Unless the trade scripts are paid and something people want I think you have to at least get 5K-10K a day in traffic before anyone will consider paying $xxxx. Sorry :(

Nevermind the $99/month server, I wouldn't be so sure that the income even covers the domain renewals....

10k a month these days is utterly worthless. My network was getting 50k a day and it was pretty much worthless.

What's the content worth do you think?
If the scripts aren't working and the design isn't good, it sounds like the content is the variable potentially worth something. I might sell the domains, with the little but of traffic, and separately liquidate the content.

Alternatively, I'd consider posting it as a site network "kit" for a newbie, complete with a few hours of consulting to help them learn how to get the traffic up. "Here's everything you need to build your own network, complete with advice from an experienced webmaster."

well to be fair if it was good google traffic, targeted and filtered in buying niches it could be worth something. but i doubt it is.

thats exactly what I was thinking. IMO, unless the network is getting 50k+ a day, I doubt it would be worth over a few thousand... IF that. Unless ratios are insanely great, everyone looks at the revenue, which in my case is pretty small but covers the bills.

I was leaning in two directions, what you described above OR selling off the domains and content if wanted. I have a pretty good deal (50% off) on the server because I have number of boxes hosted there. Its more BW then it is performance wise, but you don't need a top of the line box to host adult sites that are running on cached images and layouts.

Just sucks that I put a lot of time and effort into this back in the day, used to make me $5k to $7k+ a month in revenue but now does a small fraction of that. Its like selling off a shitty car that you bought back years ago and put a ton of sweat equity into. At the end of the day, its only worth what it produces :(

Between $200 and $400 a month. A majority of sites I push are through CCBill, so the checks I get every week range from as little as $40 to $100+.

Few dating sites I have pay with ACH and those are hit and miss. Last month was a good month and cleared $240 for dating sites alone, but this month only have $70 in sales so far.

Occasionally get checks in the mail for $100, but they are few and far between, like every 3 months or so.

10,000 a month.... I have a crap site with duplicate content that I used as a test and threw
100k xrumer links at it and it's been generating 20k views per month for over a year now.

I have two larger sites that I work on with a partner that generate a lot of traffic and income. this was my pet project.

FYI... there is no correlation between post count and traffic :winkwink:

I wish there was. Traffic to bettercgi.com is probably worth over a dollar per unique. If I could do 2k per day ... :) There's probably a negative correlation - those who spend time posting aren't busy building traffic.
