Every single time I see a thread like this I look at my traffic and it is always
exactly the same.

I never see the "dancing" that people complain about.
I don't know why, but it doesn't seem to affect me.

Any details on the dance?

jackblacklt 10-28-2011 12:28 PM

It seems to affect 1 year old websites. I have an website that is relative new, under a year and it complete jumping from page 2 to page 14 page 11, 10, 6 etc. Sometimes happens hourly sometime takes a little bit more...Pretty weird...

Maybe it takes more now until google actually compute the site position...

This is an indicator that they are probably relying on more dynamic factors like ctr, time on site and bounce rates.

Agreed that Google is always dancing. It's been months since I checked and didn't see a Google IP hitting my servers.

Many years ago, Google used to reshuffle their index once a month which is what the "dance" was, as the crawl activity would speed up right before that. Today, its just an idiotic thing that people say which has no meaning but they think it does.

Some of you must not be competing for very competitive terms, because I see my competitive first page results all over the place, every day, if not hourly as the indexes are updated. The Google Dance is pretty much no more. It's constantly "dancing" from here on out.

I wonder if it gets tired? LOL.
