that line don't work with electronics, and 10 years ago I paid $5k for p4 133mhz system

Ravage 10-31-2011 11:30 PM

What did you upgrade too?

anexsia 10-31-2011 11:45 PM

How's that Radeon 5870 working out for ya fris?

NetHorse 11-01-2011 03:53 AM

Nice build! That's a pretty good deal considering the 980x is a $1000+ processor alone. Also, stuff like the case, PS, GPUs, SSD and sound are all solid components to carry on over to a new system.

Cough, LGA-2011 boards and processors are right around the corner!

NetHorse 11-01-2011 03:54 AM

Check this mother fucking shit out. :)

The 5870 obliterates the 5470. The 5470 is entry level graphics on laptops. The 5870 is a high-end desktop card.

How much without the monitor? I need another video box

MrBottomTooth 11-01-2011 09:40 AM

Good price but I wouldn't want the monitor or sound card. No sense paying for something I wouldn't use.

Ahhh nice one NetHorse... after looking at the link, i've discovered that radeon use the first 2 numbers for the series, & the last 2 for the level in each series..
30, 40, 50 & 70s...

so mine, the 5470 is the higher entry level with the 5970 being the high top level.. the 5870 certainly looks a nice piece of technology :thumbsup

amateurcanada 11-01-2011 08:57 PM

does it come with 5 IPs? lol kidding.. Dude! Where in TO are you man? I've been back here for years!

The first numbers actually represent the generations.

The 5450 / 5470 are entry level cards, (5450 desktop, 5470 laptop) in the 5 series generation.

And the entry level for the 6 series generation.
