SexSearch trying to steal AFF affiliates

Quote:

Hi there!

I'll cut to the chase as I'm sure you are quite busy! I'm an affiliate manager for xxxMatch/SexSearch and I just got out of a meeting with our director who is willing to match and BEAT any payout being offered by Adult Friend Finder (or any similar program)! We've never had a promo this good to offer and I think you could really take advantage of this opportunity!

If you aren't happy with your AFF program or want to earn even more affiliate revenue, this is the perfect time to check us out! I'm not sure how long we'll be able to offer this promo, so please let me know ASAP if you want in! You can learn more about our sites here: http://affiliate.sexsearch.com/?ref=69140 but please get in touch today if you are ready to test our network. We will make it worth your while ;)

Thanks so much for your time and I hope you are able to take advantage of this before it's too late!

All the best,

Jason

I ain't surprised ...

signupdamnit 11-02-2011 11:49 AM

Unless they stole a database or something I don't see anything wrong with it. It's business.

Uhm not much wrong with that. We get a lot of offers like this and to me its just part of business.

A proper business move would have been to buy a advertising on this board, saying they are runing a promo and would match any other dating sponsor payouts.

Not troll through top SE results, see who's promoting AFF and then spam their email.

96ukssob 11-02-2011 11:58 AM

Not sure how this is stealing, its called offering a competitive advantage.

Unless they have a db of affiliates that someone acquired, this is normal business practice :2 cents:

Dear person, I see your working with company xyz, here at company ABC, we can beat their prices.

seeric 11-02-2011 12:00 PM

Looks like business to me. Search results are public. Somewhere the email to the owner of the domain in the results is public. Doesn't sound like anything but a solid affiliate recruitment team at work to me.

:2 cents:

ah yes cause all the big guys post here right?

:error

Edit: dont get me wrong im getting sick of these mails too but I just dont think its stealing.

Highest Def 11-02-2011 12:01 PM

I don't mind them matching deals. I just hate the approach where they act like I am an idiot by saying shit like "i just got out of a meeting with our director" or "not sure how long it will last, get in ASAP". Even if that stuff is true, it just sounds like cheesy used car salesman pitch.

iwantchixx 11-02-2011 12:08 PM

Car dealers, electronic salesmen, advertising companies for pretty much every product out there and many other companies offer the "switch" for competitors customers/affiliates. It's quite normal practice. I wouldn't call it stealing.

Just Mike 11-02-2011 12:10 PM

i dont see anything wrong with this marketing tactic

It's pretty standard practice.

Doing what you suggest only would lead to very poor results and somebody would be getting fired. Sales is a proactive business. The minute you stop being proactive is the minute you fail.

biskoppen 11-02-2011 12:12 PM

That's ok.. nothing shady there

DarkJedi 11-02-2011 12:13 PM

wow, this biz has jumped the shark

no ethics or decency left anymore

porno jew 11-02-2011 12:15 PM

i predict many links to be puled over this.

Jack Sparrow 11-02-2011 12:19 PM

Please provide evidence of them stealing per the forum rules.

Not afraid to hustle, and if the affiliate makes more $$$$ what's the problem?

fris 11-02-2011 12:26 PM

i never liked sexsearch the fact that they have a flash site.

grumpy 11-02-2011 12:27 PM

let me see, trying to mail potential clients is bad practice and this happened to aff affiliates...woaaaawwww..aff

Most people would just hire him. Honestly that takes balls. You copy and pasting it on a public forum now thats the asshole move. Sexsearch some of nicest and most honest people highest paying peeps there be.. You may need them 1 day. You may have just shot yourself in the foot lol

VikingMan 11-02-2011 12:45 PM

ClickSniper 11-02-2011 01:36 PM

To all GFY'ers and even my haters (DarkJedi).... I'm pretty new to GFY, so first of all, thank you for all the free press / advertising!

My name is Jason, I am a new affiliate manager and media buyer with SexSearch / XXXMatch / ManPlay and we want your business!

- Yes, not only will we match AFF's payout, we will beat it!
- Yes, we buy ad space on the GFY board and have for years, refresh the top banner! :)
- Yes, we have flash tours but also basic HTML tours....however, flash out converts HTML better then 2-1!
- Yes, the email DarkJedi so kindly shared with you is 100% true and to top it, I will even run a promo to the first 2 new affiliates that signup under my link. Send me 10 sales in your first pay period and SexSearch will send you an Free iPad 2!

Thanks again to DarkJedi for brining this 'AFF match and beat' promo out in the open and onto GFY ;)

Too late. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Babaganoosh 11-02-2011 01:45 PM

The proper way to handle it would be to say you will match or beat any competitor's payout. Mentioning specific competition makes you look like a douche.

As interesting as the deal may be, sexsearch has never converted as well as most other dating sponsors for me. The only one that might convert even worse than sex search is dating gold.

ff_nikita 11-02-2011 01:47 PM

AFF here. I will match whatever SexSearch/xxxMatch is matching. all day match, match, match.

Wizzo 11-02-2011 02:00 PM

They both have been doing that for years. :pimp

_Richard_ 11-02-2011 02:08 PM

so what is the bidding war at now then?

Barry-xlovecam 11-02-2011 02:11 PM

Interesting answers ...

My thoughts (and I have no horse in this race really, but from a sales savvy POV...)
Inferring or implying a potential prospect's dissatisfaction with his current vendor's (sponsor's) (product or,) program by name is at very least in poor taste and may be found to some prospects as offensive. e.g., you are an idiot for affiliating with __named sponsor___.

This is something I would never do especially in a blind sales solicitation. My thoughts is that it would exclude my prospects' further attention to my sales pitch in many circumstances.
What I do find interesting is that most people are not offended by a B2B solicitation, without prior business exchanges, as Spam.

You are the exception to the rule; The "cheese" as you call it does sell -- anyone with sales experience knows that that is just creating a sense of urgency -- look at most mainstream advertising; Hurry, offer end _date certain_ that is the oldest tactic in the world and it is still used today because it works ...

WarChild 11-02-2011 02:24 PM

Was it cool when AFF was buying competitor domain names on Zango? ;)

Diomed 11-02-2011 02:29 PM

Oh it definitely is a type of spam for sure. But I don't think it rises to the level of "I'm going to call you out for this on GFY."

Regarding "sales talk" maybe it's just me but I usually automatically think "I'm being lied to" as soon as I hear it. I think it's a little different when you are dealing with fellow marketers. There's an exception for if I highly respect the other party as a business and feel that everything they have told me is factual. Then I'll just think "What a good salesman/saleswoman this guy/gal is."

beks001 11-02-2011 02:46 PM

Omg!!!! :-o trying to persuade someone to send business in hopes of earning a higher commission! Well, I've never heard of such a thing! The nerve!!

BareBacked 11-02-2011 03:17 PM

How much did they pay you to start this thread?

rogueteens 11-02-2011 03:24 PM

who is mad enough to promote AFF?

.....

Zango

LeRoy 11-02-2011 03:41 PM

Sounds like a good sales pitch .02

PowerCum 11-02-2011 03:43 PM

Sexsearch was the only sponsor banning one of my accounts without giving any reason at all... in fact they have been the only sponsor banning one of my accounts.

$470k and several years later, AFF and a couple of other dating sponsors are getting that same network traffic and still rocking.

BTW, see you all at the Madrid gathering next week. Probably will get some sexsearch affiliate manager there to explain me why was my account banned... not that I care much, but it's still funny :)

Guess they matched AFF then also, cause Sexsearch got caught with their hand in the Zango cookie jar too.
