the media really has us sucked in.:Oh crap

TheDA 11-07-2011 05:37 AM

You obviously missed the earlier thread about his death.

There's a blindingly obvious reason there weren't so many though. What was your point?

scottybuzz 11-07-2011 05:48 AM

sorry i missed it, dont read gfy every day. still in compaison. its shocking.
what is the blindingly obvious reason? one man ripped off ideas, the other created them.

Again, not sure what your point is?

Dennis Ritchie was a true genius. Steve Jobs was the lord and leader of the hipsters. Apple truly did not create most of what they sell but, as stated, the appletards either don't know or don't care.

Nailed it.

DamianJ 11-07-2011 06:48 AM

Still not sure of the point unless it's just

APPLE SUXX0RS YOU LAMERS

michael.kickass 11-07-2011 06:51 AM

Fuck Steve Jobs, never cared for him, never bought an Apple computer or device.

Clearly the point was to get the appletards riled.

Or to make yourselves look like cocks for getting so annoyed about someone else choice of OS.

Seriously, why do you care what OS someone uses quite so much?

I suppose the same reason you do. You're in every, single apple vs <insert alternative here> thread too.

I post on those threads saying "fuck you are all idiots for arguing about this"

But whatever, you see me, and know I use Mac and probably parse every word I type as "I WANNA FUCK STEVE JOBS IN THE BUMHOLE".

Serious question, why do you care what OS I use? How does it impact your life?

scottybuzz 11-07-2011 07:18 AM

the point damian you spack tard is that the media glorified steve jobs. yes he was an incredible marketer but Dennis Richie is a true genius.

I am not out to hate because I am a hater, Steve Jobs did well and made a lot of money. I don't hate that. Good on him. What I hate is that he is being remembered as this sort of genius who will go down and remembered forever when Dennie Richie is not when he really should be.

Clearly your after an argument and have nothing else better to do with your days.
I suggest you retire back to the gary and dvtimes threads where you can spout your nonsense for hours on end and come out as the king.

scottybuzz 11-07-2011 07:20 AM

Queue 3 2 1... damian POWER as he goes after your grammar, credibility, why you have gone to no shows and misses the point entirely.

You're paranoid.

Serious answer: I don't care what OS you use. It's something to discuss other than politics. Why do you care what I like to talk about on an internet forum? How does it impact your life?

declaring the whole world is ignorant because they don't know what you know is ... ignorance itself ;)

Jobs was a celebrity, can you imagine how many people would be upset if Lindsay Lohan died? and she sucks...

With Lindsay Lohan, there is no confusion, she is a cute face, and that's it...

with Jobs they label him as "genius", "pioneer", etc, all while he was not much more than a great marketer...

Bill Gates is perhaps a bit overrated too, but Job's impact on humanity is not even in the same ballpark as Gates.... but lets stay on topic, no need to involve Gates in this discussion...

AdultKing 11-07-2011 07:57 AM

Unix borrowed much of its architecture from Multics, so it would be fair to say that K&R borrowed quite a few ideas too. The history of the evolution of electronic computing has been defined by the borrowing of previously demonstrated ideas and incorporating them into an evolutionary leap forward.

The oldest electronic digital computer, the fourth in the world, the idea of hard disk storage and random access memory all originated in Australia in the form of CSIRAC which is the oldest surviving digital computer in existence. That doesn't take away from advances that followed it, however saying Richie was wholly original in his ideas for C & UNIX is historically and factually wrong.

Perhaps, just perhaps, there can be two smart people. Maybe not everything needs to be seen through the dimwitted lens of professional sports, where there is always a winner and a loser.

Dennis Ritchie was clearly a genius, though one who preferred corporate/academic structure to entrepreneurship. Steve Jobs was a genius also.

Though they both worked in technology and were very lucky to reach maturity in a time of technological disruption, they cannot be compared directly. They focused on very different goals.

Ritchie made computers usable. Jobs made them beautiful. I works bet there are plenty of quotes from both admiring the contributions of the other.

I'm not a Mac fan myself since I prefer openness and standards, but that doesn't mean Steve Jobs wasn't brilliant at taking the geeky technologies of people like Richie and making them beautifully simple for everyone's use.

You don't see a difference? Largest tech corporation in the world - lives in his mom's basement. Which one is news if you had to write a byline?

Oh, so you are annoyed that the media wrote some stories about a guy that UNARGUABLY changed the world (via whatever means), and ignored a nerd no one has heard of?

Why not write to Points of View?

You "hate" that? Wow. I hate racism and homophobia. But whatever. Why not write a book about Richie?
