Any painters on here?

There was a guy showing his uninspired paintings around here. I took him down, of course.

Never heard of pearl silk. Usually have flat, then an eggshell or satin, then semi-gloss, then gloss is the normal scale. From the sound of it I would guess that pearl silk would be similar to a satin-in between flat and semi-gloss.

pearl silk. nothing trumps semi gloss except gloss and high gloss.
Using latex based? what are you using it on? |

From eHow explains it pretty well Defining Finishes The same color in different finishes will look subtly different and will react differently to normal wear and tear. Though the terms used to describe finishes are most often the same on all paint labels, there is no real standardization between companies. According to the "Paint Finishes" page at Better Painters, flat finishes are 0 to 5 percent gloss; matte or velvet finishes are 5 to 10 percent gloss; eggshell finishes are 10 to 25 percent gloss; pearl or satin finishes are 25 to 35 percent gloss; semi-gloss paints are 35 to 70 percent gloss; and gloss or glossy paints are 70 to- 85 percent gloss. After spending some time online, it looks like "Peal Silk" is their version of a Pearl / Satin.
Using it on living room walls and a hallway. |
