At that time the men went to war and the women stayed and worked.

The one pic inside the airplane fuselage is a representation of " Rosie the Riveter "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosie_the_Riveter

My Mother is from that time and worked as a Switchboard Operator.

adult-help 11-12-2011 07:15 AM

those pics of working women - look like some german propaganda photos..

Sarah_Jayne 11-12-2011 10:08 AM

My faveorite memorial statue in London is one to the women that worked in factories and such and kept the home front running in WW2. It is made up of the different work uniforms they wore.

One of the biggest social changes in America was women entering the workforce, specifically defense suppliers during World War 2. The photos look staged and probably were but they did represent real life at the time.

Women pilots delivered a large percentage of the planes.

.

Photos weren?t staged, back then with most of the men at war overseas woman doing mans job at our defense factories was making news frequently. And a hell of job they did.

There were also no uniforms or dress codes so they may have tried to look their best at the jobs considering all the media it was attracting. Do you know what famous Hollywood legend was discovered at one of those factories?

thickcash_amo 11-12-2011 03:14 PM

wow those are awesome photos! Seems like a boring time back then though
