Best Ebay auction sniping tool?

I was just looking at some ebay auction sniping tools and wondered how safe they are to use.

For example, auctionsniper.com asks you for your actual ebay username and password. Seems like that is asking to get fucked, giving out your login details. Of course I could just use it once for free then change my ebay login info, but still seems shady.

I understand there is some software you can run directly on your PC, bypassing these third party sites, which would seem a bit more safe.

Any one use one before?

auctionsniper FTW. used it for a couple of years now, won loads of stuff at the last second stopping all that crap where people get excited and overbid. Normally don't tell anyone about as I wouldnt want everyone to use it :)

Not worried about them having your ebay login and password? Supposedly it is encrypted but you really have to take them at their word and with all the hacking going on lately I am a little apprehensive.

How the hell do you expect them to bid for you if they dont have your password?

The ones that run from the service provider's server are better than the ones that run from your computer. There are several safe solutions. Look up user reviews if you are concerned. I've used these things plenty and never had any trouble.

That is why I am questioning whether it is better to go with software that you run on your own PC instead of relying on a 3rd party website.

I personally don't like the idea of giving them my ebay info.

You don't have to trust Jbidwatcher because it's open source, so you can look and see what it's doing. Well, I can see what it's doing - if you're not a programmer you may see jibberish, but others have looked and it's OK.

I may add some features to it that no other software has, if I ever get around to it.

fuck ebay and fuck paypal even more, i fucking despise paypal

I have used AuctionSniper for YEARS with no issues. There have been very few times I've used it and NOT gotten what I was after.

There really is no other substitute.

Nope not worried. In any case I use the same username/password combo on twitter and facebook and here as well.

I say the same, I just actually don't mean mine...

+1 for Auction Sniper

Goofbay. It has a little javascript bookmarklet that will grab the item number.
