How to use old style-1998s harddrive on windows 7?
Found 2 old harddrives from around 1998 or 2000
1 firebal lct15 15gig and 1 older with 2 gigabytes of data. Windows does recognize the drives and installs the default driver but that one does not work. They do show up in device manager but not in computermanagement. Wich driver was being used by the old drives running on windows 1998? |
install virtual pc with win 95?
but otherwise no idea, Win95 had FAT16 and FAT32, dont know about drivers maybe try dos or basic linux that boots from a usb stick? |

It needs a driver. |
Throw them in the garbage and buy new ones.

If it sees them as a device but doesn't recognize them with a drive letter, use Runtime's GetDataBack (there are FAT and NTFS versions separatedly), so at least you can save what you have on them.

Sometimes with old hard drive you have to manually set the parameters in the BIOS instead of autodetect. The parameters should be on the drives. |
