It's easy to understand why Bloomberg only takes a token salary of $1 a year as mayor (yes, this is true); he is increasing his wealth (currently valued at $19.5 billion) through his position.

Geeze, 50% tax and they still make huge amounts of money. Tell me one more time how these high taxes hurt the rich??

There is a group called Patriot Millionaires (or something... going off memory) currently begging Congress to raise their taxes for the good of the nation. Couple hundred of them just signed a letter.

Do these millionaires realize they can pay more to the government voluntarily? And there is nothing patriotic about raising taxes :1orglaugh

Anyone calling for raising of taxes are calling for more wars and more death of innocent women and children. End the wars, we wont need to raise taxes. :2 cents:

i pay 42 % income tax and 19% VAT tax on everything i buy.
If you earn a bit more as me in europe you pay 50% income tax and 19% VAT.

But the people you talk about are TAX exampt in most cases because they use loopholes in the law, like offshore accounts and tax exampt foundations.
