FTP Access and bandwidth usage?
Quick question about about bandwidth usage based on how you access your site through FTP. I use CuteFTP, and for all my sites, I've always just used the Host Address of my hosting account (the domain name) to access my sites. I'm doing some work for someone, and they're insisting that instead of using the domain name as the host address, that I use an IP address to gain access to the site through FTP. They say it uses less bandwidth to access with the IP than the domain name.
Does it really make a difference? |
Lol, that's bullshit.
Only thing is that if they are in between moving hosts the domain name may be cached at your local isp dns resolvers so you may end up at the wrong server. In that case it makes sense to use the IP instead of a hostname. |
