How often do you guys have e-mail problems with your dedicated servers?
 

This month I've had 3 problems with my e-mails from dedicated servers.

I keep getting "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server." and it takes at least 2 hours to get my e-mail accounts back online.

In the mean time, I'm not sure if I'm getting my e-mails right, or if the ones I send are getting delivered.

How often do you guys have e-mail problems with your dedicated servers?

Email does seem to be more problematic than many things. As to whether or not your email is being delivered, probably yes, it is. The email system is designed to be reliable, retrying delivery for several days if needed. Contrast that with instant messaging which is designed to be fast rather than reliable.

The error message shows you are having an issue with your IMAP server, the MTA is a different service which actually handles the incoming/outgoing email.

IMO you should ask your host to look into this as it is normally an easy fix

I don't remember the last time I had email issues. I'm on a dedicated and am my own admin. If email is fucking up constantly you should either give your host a nudge or hire a competent admin to take care of things for you.
