Computers are amazing

I have 30+ tabs open in my browser, hers has maybe 20 open in it.. many with flash ads and video content and shit... and I'm sitting here opening 10-12 video files simultaneously over and over again .. plus I'm running two monitors .. and I have two instances of my ftp client uploading some shit ..... and it's actually doing it all without getting too upset

AND it is not even the latest greatest anything

DomP_nl 11-21-2011 10:02 AM

I remember having windows 3.1 - holy shit, that sucked. Trying to do anything serious was impossible. Videos were out of the question.

Highly recommend an SSD, best upgrade I've bought in the last 10 years for increasing performance. Better than going from 2 cores to 6.

Scott McD 11-21-2011 01:59 PM

We would never have seen hahahahahahaha without computers. Scary thought!

Scott McD 11-21-2011 01:59 PM

Next on my list.. the hard drive is definitely the bottleneck a lot of the time, for sure. I can't remember, is SLC the better one or MLC? One is single something right? Oh well, more reading :1orglaugh

My first Windows machine ran 3.1, then I upgraded to 3.11 for Workgroups. Not much of an improvement...

It was a 486DX2 with a 420 MB (I think) HD and a walloping 4MB of ram. It cost $2,499 before tax :( About a month later, the first pentiums went on sale :helpme

Anyone can buy a better machine now for less than the sales tax added to the price of that 486DX2. Upgrading the RAM to 8MB was a couple of hundred bucks, and replacing my burnt out 13" colour monitor cast about $350.

I do not miss those days...

my first pc was a P75 with 8MB of ram and an 800MB hard drive. for the OS it had windows 3.11. what a piece of shit os. haha I still have that 800MB hard drive and it actually still works. Of course, it's useless since it's only 800mb.
