That was intended to be a regular M-1 fight between two not really top (at least now) but still good and very famous MMA fighters.

So everything was going as usually, till Mr. ("Batman") Putin has climbed to the ring and started his pre-election PR speech. Taking into account the fact that he is not a very popular person here in Russia, he got that he deserved. He was booed by Russian MMA fans in "Olympiysky":



"Not a big deal" you say. Right, it should be not a big deal for other politicians but not Putin and his court jesters... So on the next day after the fight, Putin's press secretary Peskov told that all those "booes" were dedicated not to Puting but(!) to Jeff Monson (the guy who has lost the fight but was acting like a real man and was able to stand till the end of the battle with a broken leg).

Such a foul and low act of self-defending "pudinoids" was really shocking to all the Russian MMA fans. We do never hiss a defeated one if he was fighting like a man (e.g.: Jeff Monson).

Why did I posted this? Just because I feel sorry for the Russian government that was trying to show us (the regular Russians) as dishonorable bastards to cover their own stinky asses.

well.MMA fans are exactly intellectual elite in any country in the world, especially in Russia that gave some of most famous world's intellectuals and artists.

I see your sarcasm, so I'll show you an example which is the most close to me personally. It's my son. He is just 17 year old, but he is a brown belt in Aikido, got a 2nd place in Kudo MMA contest of Moscow (in the 18 less category of course) and he is a big fan of MMA in a whole (right now as I type he is in a gym, working on muscles). On the other hand, he is a winner of plenty brain Olympiads on Physics and Mathematics in Moscow. He is a student of mephi-based school which is top 10 of the best Moscow institutions. So there is no contradiction between MMA and science.

P.S. He has a very good achievements in music as well (appeared on many stage's of Moscow rock clubs with his band), but it's not related to the "intellectuality" so let me skip this part.

regarding my opinion, that means nothing on this theme except that he is talented kid or above average, for sure, (most of kids in his years would be fucked up without discipline on some party I guess) what can be your personal honor or achievement but doesn't change fact about average profile of person going in such places.

I am also sure that between all those people finding amusement in blood and violence (never heard that some positive world famous person is this type except Barack Obama that got Nobel prize for killing) there are some finished serious universities but majority are primitives and ,regarding my opinion,sick people finding enjoyment in hurting other people.(whatever excuse is, martial art, being in force...)

So, my yesterday conversion was 1:268 , but that is just one day between thousands of others where much worse conversion is dominant and it doesn't mean that my traffic is good like son's profile is not average profile of person watching happenings like that. I can understand you don't like Putin but don't be unrealistic regarding this issue. At the end, what interest me more is , who do you think can be successfull replacement for him?

Actually any wise and honest person (not a bloody thief like him). I can call you a lot for the names but you just don't know then. From those you know, I would rather better to vote for Navalny or even for Prokhorov. Yeah, they are not ideal but comparing to Puting they are one century above his head.

I think you are generalizing quite a bit. I think most of them love the competition and the discipline of martial arts. Jeff Monson, as an example relevant to this thread, has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in psychology. If you look into the background of most MMA fighters I don't think you'd find the majority of them to be thuggish brutes who enjoy violence for violence sake. (Except for maybe the Diaz brothers)

that's fine what you are talking about. It would be irresponsible, stupid and arrogant from me to talk about things in your country and about situation there. (I will leave to our mostly american collegues here because they are experts on that field ). What bothers me is some similar scenario with Russia like it was where Grbatchov was on power, or Yeltsin. Russia have so many enemies and It can't allow to be soft in any way.
