Man pays back stolen money over 50 years later

http://www.king5.com/news/local/Man-...134643563.html

"During the late [forties] I stole some money from the cash register in the amount of $20-$30," the note read. "I want to pay you back this money in the amount of $100 to put in your theft account."

$30.00 in 1949 had the same buying power as $272.84 in 2011..

obviously he didn't feel that guilty :)

Statute of Limitations LONG expired... So it doesn't matter if it was the original 20-30 bucks or what he paid, he did it for a moral reason. Good for him.

It's our concept of the afterlife and fear of the unknown. The inverse of the dead being buried with their valuables and trying to put up bribes at the pearly gates. :Oh crap

i gave a guy some poo, that was over a good few years old... does that count?

you-big-dummy 11-30-2011 04:59 AM

What's this, his end of life confessions? ` Some bleeding heart liberal said "That's heartwarming"? `Lock his ass up. If he had any pension/medical benefits from Sears, he'd be paying restitution.
Try that one on for size!

Maybe Media Revenue will follow this fellow's example, let's just wait.

fear of hell makes people do some silly things.

he is only doing it because he is trying to right his sins before death so he can go to heaven.

conscience? naaah, last attempt at pleasing his savior LOL

He should have also paid 50 years of interest.

I see it is either someone was just diagnosed with some disease and is trying everything to appease the karma gods, or his fate is sealed and he wants to ensure he's going upstairs.

Years ago when I was like twenty-one I bought an electric razor from Emporium Capwell. I paid by check, and oddly enough the check never went through. It was a pretty good amount for me back then. The check was never cashed, and eventually a year later I closed out the bank account. I did feel guilty really.

Lykos 11-30-2011 09:12 AM

He should pay more:)lol but anyway it's nice he remembered it at all!
