This all started a month ago when a rather disconcerting thread in another msg board had a field day maligning AdultsiteCMS. We have been wanting to address this for the longest time but my boss felt we needed to do this after we have launched version 4.

As version 4.0 made its debut yesterday, we wanted to clarify things and clear the air. So now, we are going to face your criticisms head on. Post your AdultSiteCMS-related questions that haven't been answered in our website. We will answer your questions as truthfully as we can so that people can understand what our software can do and what it can't.

It's been four years since the software started, and we tried to stay true to it. I guess we're not here just to make a quick buck.

whats to stop people from giving it away for free? ive seen a copy floating around, since its GPL you cant really sue anyone for giving away the software.

on another note, ive heard good things and bad things about the this before, have had a few clients moving from adultsitecms to magic members or some other system because of the lack of support.

most people just give up because of the lack of communcation.

you might wanna hire a full time support staff, even 1 person just to handle the support, would make your product so much better.

I was really interested in this but couldn't get support, still may be but courious how I can integrate it into a design I have.

"As I have said many times - GPL refers to the members folder which is running 100% Wordpress with our custom themes and plugins. The tour folder are all custom built and are NOT connected to Wordpress except that they share the same database. These scripts and themes are custom made and are protected by our copyright.

I personally handle 95% of all support issues myself. We have sold over 300 AdultsiteCMS programs in the last 5 years and I am sure, on occasion, some clients may feel that they are not being addressed quickly enough. I personally answer all emails within 24 hours and even post my ICQ and skype address on all the pages of the site. People who know me know that I am always on Skype (almost 16 hours per day) and it is connected by my cell, iPad and computer. Someone who really wants to get a hold of me can. Of course if you are rude, or abusive of my good nature then you may not get the same level of service. I go out of my way to help everyone I can.

I will say that we have changed our policies with our launch of AdultsiteCMS 4.0. We no longer provide free unlimited support for questions about how to modify the software or free training because of lack of knowledge of expertise in using the system. AdultsiteCMS 4.0 comes with a 116 page comprehensive manual and we will soon make online video tutorials available as well. Our support is limited to the operation of our software. Not to act as your webmaster and educator about what is FTP, how to modify templates with CSS and why things get deleted when there is no backup.

I will say this in general, no script or software will act as a front line support for your business. If you are running any CMS program as the back-end of your site, you will lose money. You need to either be very technical or learn quickly and wear many hats. Be ready to be wake up on the middle of the night if your site is down for any reason. You could also hire a server admin, a webmaster, a designer (if you need custom design) and make sure that you have at least 3 servers running in 3 locations - development, deployment (live) and a backup server.

I cannot tell you how many clients who seem to not fully understand the benefits of having backups or not making live changes and breaking their sites without any way to revert changes. I know, its a question of cost usually, but I would never run anyone's site with all these contingencies."
