Google, Facebook Ordered to Delist Fake Sites
 

A US Judge has ordered Google, Yahoo, Twitter and Facebook, among others, to delist domain names linked to websites selling counterfeit goods.

This could be the start of many delisting orders :2 cents:

when they crack on youtube (useruploads), they will then delist illegal tubes... so not in close case...

So a large company identified 600 sites selling their counterfeit products and a judge orders those search engines to delist the sites so they lose their SE traffic and thats "fucking things up"?

So, it happened, now "They" will decide which sites will be listed in Google and which not. I've always knew it's a good idea to get independent from Google traffic. But the ways how to achieve that are very problematic and complex. Things are getting more and more difficult. Only strongest will survive.

Of course if it was only about truly counterfeit goods that would be a good thing, but I'm afraid they might not end only on these ones.

Because the government has already investigated and told them which sites to delist?

It's only for sites they've already found 'guilty' so to speak. They took over a bunch of these a couple of years ago too, not really a big deal.

Starts with something small then they will want to delist anything they don't like.
